Happy Saturday to you all!

Yesterday's condo

8/2 AMPS=95; +1=86; +2=77; +3=92; +8=108
8/2 PMPS=97; +2=92; +4=140

8/3 AMPS=130; +3=103; +4=94
8/3 PMPS=92; +2=95; +4=92; +6=94

I love going back to bed on weekend morning.
Both cats came and cuddle, jumped on me in turn for some brushing, and settled on my side, Lucy on my right and Ginger on my left.

Lucy is doing good, but not as great as the past couple of days.
She was very eager to eat, but was having trouble eating by herself, so I hand-fed her.
Her little nose is snotty today. Her appetite is good, so I don't think it's because she can't smell, but I think it's physically more challenging for her to pick food from the plate when her sinus is not clear.
I can sort of imagine it, because for me too it's hard to eat chewy stuff when my nose is congested.
The weather got suddenly cool and yesterday we had rain after almost a month of no rain, so I think the sudden weather/temperature change is affecting her sinus.
I'm not worried at this point because she is doing OK, just a little sniffly and sleepy today.
And in the end, cooler weather is much better for her.

Tomorrow I have a vet appointment for both Lucy and Ginger, for checkups and blood work.
Hope it'll go well! Already a little nervous!

Re: 8/3 Lucy AMPS=130;+3=103;+4=94

Hi Mariko,
We are adding our wish for no more snotty nose. When Rusty sneezes, a glob of snot comes out. But I think of it as getting rid of some of that chronic congestion. I see that you ordered some Allerplex for Lucy. I think it really helps Rusty's condition. It loosens up the "gunk". Rusty gets his Allerplex capsule sprinkled into about a teaspoon of Beechnut Stage 1 turkey baby food. I then add a teaspoon of warm water, mix it all together into a slurry, and finger-feed it as a "treat". He loves the taste of Allerplex (which smells like bouillon cubes). We just began giving this "lung treat" twice a day, after breakfast and after dinner (previously we gave it once a day, after Breakfast). He has been taking it since February and both Edward and I (and the vet) notice an improvement in his chronic congestion/breathing.

Good luck to Lucy and Ginger at the vetty tomorrow. Lucy has really nice numbers.

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Hi Lucy, thanks for stopping in the other day. Hope Lucy gets over her sniffles soon. Pretty blues and greens in her SS! Lots of vines for today's vet visit.

Re: 8/3 Lucy AMPS=130;+3=103;+4=94

Thank you very much all for visiting and vines today!
I haven't had time to check the board much today except to update Lucy's number, and I'm so grateful Lucy's receiving so many vines.

I have a question about slippery elm barks.
Has anyone used it?
I was trying to learn about the difference between ondansetron and cerenia on the internet today because I wanted to ask the vet for some anti-nausea pills tomorrow, and I happened upon slippery elm barks in Tanya's CKD site.
It says it works for many gastro related problems. One site also mentions it's good for hairballs, so I got really interested, but I'm not sure if it's OK for a diabetic cat.

I found here that the nutritional value info as below.

Slippery elm inner bark contains many nutrients, including several types of carbohydrates, fatty acids and plant sterols, known as phytosterols, notes the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Some carbohydrate components in slippery elm include galactose, galacturonic acid and glucose. Phytosterols include beta-sitosterol, shown to be helpful for lowering cholesterol and for reducing symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Fatty acids in slippery elm include oleic acid, a type of essential omega-9 fatty acid, and palmitic acid.

I highlighted the sentence which made me wonder if I can use it for Lucy.
I would appreciate any insights or suggestion, or sharing of experience with this supplement.....

Re: 8/3 Lucy PMPS=92;+2=95 // SLIPPERY ELM BARKS?

I've used it for Gus early in his CKD journey to help with acid tummy. It worked really well for a long time.

I've also used it extensively in my cats for GI upsets. It stops diarrhea and ends mild constipation. I've never used it for Gracie but some members have. I don't believe it affects BG.

Re: 8/3 Lucy PMPS=92;+2=95 // SLIPPERY ELM BARKS?

Thanks, Marje.
I'll give it a try.... I'll see if I can find it at a local health store.
But then again, Lucy make not tolerate the taste of it.
Lucy didn't like the taste of coconut oil. Nor Ginger.
I didn't eve take a lick.
I really want to try the baby food trick, but Heinz still hasn't replied to me...
I may have to come up with my own recipe for kitty's yummy goop.....
