HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Well, I had hoped yesterday was to be the worst of the bounce...silly me...guessin' this is the real bounce... :YMSIGH:

Nothing new to report here...still not sure what's going on with Hershey's eating...He's eating pretty much like normal for shot times, but not interested in the +5 meals. He'll nibble a little here and there, but isn't consistently finishing before shot time meal. I had increased his food trying to help him gain weight/keep it, but maybe it's just more than he wants.

Hi Libby, hope Hershey soon breaks the bounce. Sometimes I have trouble getting Maggie to eat at the right times, and then she begs for food around the pre-shot time. Hope your day is going well otherwise.

Hershey....time for a lesson on surfing, dude. You've seen the emoticons. The water is supposed to be either green, or blue, right? That's what colors the ocean comes in. Trust me, I live on an island. Waves don't come in yellow, and they sure don't come in pink. If you ever see water that is yellow, pink or red, DON'T go near it. So, next shot, grab the board and pay attention to the color of the water, okay?

Yuck on the pink numbers, for sure, Libby.

Boy, how I understand how frustrating it is to get Hershey to eat what and when, you want him to. Checks needs a little weight, and isn't a good eater, since he's been off dry.

Hershey's up there today, huh? Oh well, it's just one cycle. Tomorrow will be better. I know it's frustrating though.

Racci's eating is off and so is Maggie's. Maybe it's the moon? I hope he starts eating better. TTYL

@Ann - I HOPE this is Hershey breaking the bounce! Hershey never used to give me trouble eating. It happens mostly when I increase the amount I try to get him to eat. I don't know how else to 'bulk him up,' though.

@Lisa - Thanks. I hope this is the end of that bounce!

@Barb - It's frustrating because Hershey gained some weight, almost to what we thought was his ideal weight, but then started losing. ugh - Wish I had that problem!!

@Melanie - Just one cycle...that's what I keep telling myself... :YMSIGH: Hope all the kitties start eating better!

Wasn't going to test anymore until shot time, but since I needed to run to Walmart, decided I should test before leaving him...

Walmart is doing their back-to-school sale differently this year. It's usually everything on sale during tax-free weekend (which is this weekend). This year, it's only SOME stuff on sale...and not very well stocked, I might add. Didn't need much for our kids, but it's when we buy for our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Going to hit a different Walmart after church Sunday to try to finish up. AND - true to form...Jessica just started a new Walmart list....never get caught up on errands....

Nice blue bounce breaking!!! Way to go Hershey.

Our vet just put Gus on extra virgin coconut oil to gain weight and it's working. Now...I do not know how it would affect a FD. There is no added sugar and the label doesn't show any sugars like it would with something like milk.
Gus LOVES it.

Having lower numbers lowers their appetite too--I have to keep telling myself that too!!
Looks like bounce is broken!! Now you can sleep well!! Coconut milk? Never heard of it, but whatever helps! Hugs & Love from us! NI Ni!

Glad that Hershey's coming down nicely after yesterday's.
Yes, extra virgin coconut oil is the "in" thing now. A lot of ppl said it's good but for cats? I dont know. Heshey need to increase weight?

Yes, Hershey needs to gain weight. Hershey used to be overweight and we realized we were overfeeding him. (Going by the directions on the bag.) He was 12.4 lb, in Apr, 2010 and he looked like a good weight. (That's why we were thinking his ideal weight was around 12 lb.) He was down to 8.5 lb when he was diagnosed Nov, 2011. He had gained to 11.4 lb in Mar, 2012, at which point we were wondering if his ideal weight was actually maybe a little higher than 12 lb. He couldn't hold the 11.4 lb and was down to 9.5 lb at his appt a few weeks ago.

Yes, hate to see them loose weight but isnt diabetes patient supposed to keep their weight? Usually for human, we are advised to loose weight. Ive noticed that all my cats lost weight after switching to pure canned food. They used to have a buffet of dry knibbles plus canned breakfast. After Rosy's dx, no more free feeding & all on scheduled canned meal.

Yes, often diabetic humans are advised to lose weight. That's because obesity can lead to diabetes and cause other health problems. For example, my mom was the first person we've ever heard of in her family to have diabetes. She was also over her ideal weight. When she lost weight, she was able to come off of her diabetes meds...until she started gaining weight back. That's been a life-long struggle for her. Hershey had already lost weight before the diabetes diagnosis (Doesn't mean he didn't already have it, we just didn't know about it). We know Oreo's ideal weight is ~12 lb. Hershey is a much bigger build and is still bony at 9.5 lb.

Had to take the bowl from Oreo, so Hershey could eat...Oreo...remember? The one who doesn't like Wellness and scratches around the bowl like covering something in the LB?!

So, I THOUGHT I was going to grab a +8.5 and go to bed at 3:30am, but with him giving me a (67), I'm not comfortable doing that...
