Seen some lows the last 3 nights between 2am-6am...been kind of rough since I am working very long days (including today, Sunday morning). I gave him a spoonful of medium carb food, a few bites of dry food and a dab of Karo--seemed to keep him from crashing too low.

He did 'bounce' 8/1, 8/2 and 8/3 so I have adjusted his dose to a hair less than what I had been giving, but a hair more than I used to give, so I'll call it 0.15 unit on the chart. I have a dummy syringe that I compare to every day to make sure it's the same amount. We shall see how it goes the next few days at this dose.

Lantus works best if you give the same dose at AM and PM shot times. I don't know that I would have reduced given that Harley didn't drop below 50 but I can understand your wanting to insure that Harley is safe if your work schedule is calling for long hours.

I think I understand your saying that you reduced because of bouncing? If so, usually that strategy doesn't work. Bounces aren't caused by too much insulin.

Huh...I may have misunderstood some prior instructions then :(

He has dropped and when a few times when he got below 70 I gave him some high carb dry kibble and then he swung up...which I am assuming is in that case from the food...BUT I don't know how low he would have gotten had I not given him the kibble?

I did adjust it to 0.15 unit and he seems more on the level today....nice blues so far. It's so hard to deal with him getting so low after the evening shot, which tends to be right in the middle of the morning. I want to see good greens, but with my schedule getting intense I can't risk him going hypo in the middle of the night. I have health issues too and not sleeping is not good for me either :(
