Hi Melissa,

Sorry to hear about T's diagnosis of HCM....at least you have a definative diagnosis and are not trying to figure out why he is coughing so much. There is a different brand or type of Albuterol that is supposed to be safer for asthma kitties that also have HCM.....it is Xopenex (levalbuterol), you may want to look into that for little T. Glad there was no coughing over night.

Sherry - I am going to ask the internist about Doxy, which Kat recommended, to be used with the Flovent rather than the albuterol. Do you know anything about that med?

Hi Melissa,

I know that Doxy is an antibiotic which has shown to help some of the really difficult to control asthma kitties like Mo, Triss & Kiki.

The Xopenex is a form of Albuterol that is safer for heart kitties than plain albuterol. I would definitely ask about it, just to have some on hand, in case of an emergency.

Today was a good day. Still no coughing. The last cough was at 11 pm Monday night. We decreased him back down to 5 mg of prednisolone today. Tarragon is laying on his back watching animal planet so he is feeling good. Thanks for all the well wishes. They definitely have done the trick!
 
No coughing - yeah!! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: Yeah!! I'm so glad to hear Tarragon is feeling better and his numbers show it. I hope you both can get some sleep tonight.
