Nelli has not urinated since yesterday mid morning. Bladder VERY full. Has been to her Vet this morning. He didn’t want to press on bladder for fear it would burst- sent us to Blue Pearl ER believes they will want to cath her. Should I make sure she is well sedated if this is in fact what they want to do?
Any other help, words of wisdom regarding advise on what should not be, not necessary will be largely appreciated! They always want to do unnessary test, etc. Nelli is fragile
I have very little trust in Vets. One bad xperience after another .
Thank you so much for your input :bighug:

She shouldn’t need anesthesia. I had a vet pierce my cats’s bladder when he blocked so since your vet wasn’t comfortable it’s good you were sent to the ER. :bighug:

No anesthesia... extreme I know, just wanted to ask this amazing support group :) vet here pierced bladder said might make her "go"... didnt work.
Took her back to express bladder :nailbiting:...:(
She is doing GREAT otherwise?! Alert, coat shiny and smooth, ate good breakfast, pooped this morning, driving me crazy wanting to follow her routine and go outside after test, eat, shot- just "normal Nelli" other than the dang weakness in gait; neuropathy

How did it go with the bladder? Do they know what has caused that issue?

No, of course not?!?
Waiting on some Urine/culture lab results... ended up Vet manually expressing bladder.
Concerned, asked what if she fills up again and doesn’t urinate, what would be cause? “Probably the neuropathy traveling up into her “express arena” preventing her from urinating. *Not her exact words-

Hmmm.....well I haven’t heard that before but never say never.

Also, I told her I had Nels on methyl b12, but my understanding is it doesn’t have a good effect until the BG is being well managed. Her response was “ neuropathy often does not go away or get better” hmmm?

Why would she go up at +10 today and down at PMPS

Lantus is famous for sometimes having a "double dip" where the number drops again at Pre-shot (but not lower than the nadir)

It's just one of it's "quirks"

I wouldn't put too much into it though....Nelli's had a tough day and her numbers could be a little wonky just due to that.

As for your vet's opinion on B-12, there is a LOT of anecdotal evidence on this board that says he's wrong. Yes, getting the BG under control is the #1 thing, but we've seen the B-12 Methylcobalamin do some amazing things!!

Here's a great video on how far back they can come:

Not true.

The vet stress could have also caused a delayed increase in BG but Chris is right on second dips.

I am looking for Doodles’ video...he had the worst case of neuropathy I’ve ever seen and he healed completely.
