Yesterday's condo

Spooky was such a good boy this morning! He jumped up on the couch when I called him. :-D Although DH said he heard Mr. Spook growl under his breath, I didn't. He didn't growl, hiss, or snap at us the whole time, and just nicely jumped down after the test. DH still had to call him back for his treat, but of course he came back for that!

As soon as I got home, he decided it was time to munch a little. I ended up giving him 2 treats too. Because, you know, he's such a sweetie... :-D

Rhiannon- It does look that way, doesn't it? I'm going to try solo testing again tomorrow, after he's had a full day of not being tested every few hours. That extra testing really does a number on him.

I will be off the day of his surgery, so will be able to monitor him once he gets home. I'll probably sleep on the couch so I can keep a better eye on him overnight. He rarely wanders upstairs anymore. It would be so wonderful if he can get OTJ.

We can try to do a mini-curve Sunday. If only he would let me test him by myself...

Re: 8/28 Spooky AMPS 135

I had to go look up what you were answering.
Yes . They do it all in their own time.

I've been sleeping on the couch for weeks now just to let dh sleep and not deal with my alarm.
Are you giving him the b12 for neuropathy?
He should eventually get back to walking up the stairs. Shadow is starting to jump up on things again. I'll have to look up my order date for the b12 so I'll know how long it took to improve her life.

I haven't been around a lot today so I just now saw your post. I've been dealing with specific issues for other people who've asked for help and then I have my own "new" issue
with syringes.
I think when I switched, the two syringes were not equal as they should have been and that means I cut Shadow's dose in half.
I've got others helping me figure it out.

Great job on the testing and giving treats! Spooky is catching on to that. :-D We give zobaline, 3 mg tablets) to Zener. I think that's the methyl B12. He had peripheral neuropathy pretty bad last summer and we started giving it to him. It took a few weeks to start seeing improvement and a few months before he was back to walking normally (for him  ).

Well, this evening wasn't as smooth as this morning. Growl, growl, grumble, grumble. :-|

Spooky seems to be walking normally, and he still jumps up on his chair. But he *did* miss the coffee table earlier this evening, and it's lower than the chair. And of course- he's not climbing the stairs. He used to always sleep at my feet. As least for part of the night. It didn't occur to me he may have the beginnings of neuropathy, but perhaps he does? Should I start him on B-12? Is there a specific brand B-12 we should be giving him?

@ Rhiannon- I am so sorry to hear you're having such a problem with your syringes. I hope others will be able to guide you.

@ Liz- 'walking normally'. I know what you mean! He has always kind of 'waddled'.
Spooky has always been a big boy. at one time he weighed 20 lbs. He's down to 14 lbs now, but he didn't lose all that weight recently. Before he got sick, he still weighed 18 lbs. It was like carrying a toddler in a carrier.

Here is the B12 info. It takes a few weeks to see but we all have improvements because of this.

As for the leg problems, Neuropathy. Many of us are using B-12.
If you hunt for it elsewhere, make sure it is methylcobalmin. Not all b12's
are the same.

Vitacost Vitamin B-12 Methylcobalamin -- 5000 mcg - 60 Capsules
http://www.amazon.com/Vitacost-Vitamin- ... n+capsules

A commonly given dose here is 3 mg -5 mg.
B vitamins are water soluble and any excess is excreted in the urine.

the bottle above is 5000mcg which is the same as 5 mg. You can empty the whole capsule and mix in with the canned food or use part of it if you prefer the 3 mg dose
