Yesterday http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=77962 was blues day, followed by liver reaction in the PM.

And today we seem to have a yellow day. I guess that makes up for the lack of sunshine outside. It's a gray day here, with blue skies poking through in the distance so maybe we'll see sunshine later this afternoon. Neko was acting hungry this morning (running whenever the fridge opened) and I thought that meant she was going high or going low. Looks like neither. Both cats are currently camped out in the solarium, trying to get any extra warmth they can.

I am making blackberry ice cream and have to be careful of Neko. One of the ingredients is karo (corn syrup helps reduce crystalization) and I dropped a bit. I had a mad dash trying to clean it up before Neko helped me clean up. That mixed with the cream is hard for kitties to resist.

Looks like a nice yellow surf for Neko today. Hope you got to see some sunshine.

By the way, your SS is missing a couple of dates (Aug. 26 & Aug. 28).

@Sienne - wow you are quick! I just updated the subject line.

@Carla - now Neko has more blue than the skies, although I guess blue peaking through is about the same. Thanks for noticing the SS typos, they are now fixed.

HEY! neko's ss is looking FANTASTIC! wow - i haven't checked in for a bit and look it how well she's doing! congratulations!

ps, i don't blame her for running for blackberry ice cream goobers on the floor. i'd be tempted to race her for it too! :lol:

I have no idea where that came from, unless it is Neko's delayed bounce to yesterday's low blues.

@Julie - It's good to hear from you. Neko decided to throw another color into the spreadsheet. grr_red Hadn't seen that for a few days. We were out for dinner and I wonder whether she found some trace of ice cream on the counter while we were gone?

Karo syrup in your homemade ice cream? Is that instead of sugar or in addition to? I love homemade ice cream. Not sure who the recipe originated with, but my parents and aunt and uncle used to make it sometimes on Sunday afternoons when we all gathered at my grandma's. (That's the recipe my family uses now, too.) My aunt and uncle had an old crank freezer. Doug often speaks of how he'd love to have one, but they're $250 and up! :o NOT planning to pay that much when we have an electric freezer. YUM! I could go for some homemade ice cream now...bad idea since it's 1am. ;-)

Wow, Neko - what happened with that PMPS? Did you find some yummies on the floor or counter? I'm sure they were hard to resist!

It's no telling where that (400) came from. She could have found a morsel of sweet yummy goodness, it could be a bounce from yesterday or any number of things she doesn't wish to share with the class. I hope she comes down soon!

All this talk about ice cream has me thinking about the Vanilla Chocolate Chip in the Freezer. The pint I swore I wouldn't get into until at least Wednesday. That plan is sure not gonna happen now. :-D :-D I adore home made ice cream but haven't done that since Girl Scouts - a long, long time ago.

Are the blackberries home grown?

Hmm, not sure where she's going next.

@Libby = 2Tbps of karo in addition to sugar. It's just to help reduce crystal formation and makes a smoother ice cream. We just use a Donvier icre cream maker http://www.amazon.com/Cuisipro-Premier-Donvier-Cream-Maker/dp/B003NXQU00/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20. Much cheaper and easier than the manual kind my parents had when I was growing up.

@Shai - blackberries grow wild everywhere here. I picked some when I was at my parents place last week. Ice cream is easy to make in the Donvier, just gotta keep it away from the kitties. Back before FD, Neko used to LOVE to lick the bottom of the ice cream bowl. Not allowed any more. :sad:
 
Hey Wendy - looks like Neko and Fitzel have us both on night watch.

I'm envious of your blackberry situation. This year Judith and I planted a berry garden - blackberries (marion and navaho) boysenberries and raspberries. We got lots of Marion's - but not enough to get past me every morning for breakfast - a not bad crop of boysenberries - but hardly any raspberries. This is the garden's first year so we're hoping for more next year. Also, we're expanding the garden across the length of our back wall - another 35 or 40 feet. (lots aren't that big here in L.A.) We feel lucky to have gotten anything since we've had the summer from h***. Right now, it's almost 2am and it's still in the upper 70's outside.

At least Neko's in the lower end of the stinky pinkies. C'mon Neko you're so close to the lagoon. The water's great. Come on in.
