Ugh I slept through my alarm to feed Moonie at 230am and I’m annoyed with myself. I wish I’d been able to feed her to flatten her out last night. When she drops like this, we always see a bounce 😭

She was nauseous last night (which improved a lot with ondansetron), so we’ll continue giving her 4mg every 8 hours today as a precaution.

She ate her breakfast normally this morning, which is a great sign. But I also found some softer than usual stools in the litter box this morning that smelled horrible. We’ll ramp the s bouilardi back up today.

This just all makes me anxious just a couple days before our trip. It makes me wonder - if she feels this way Sunday, what will I do? She seems mostly fine right now, but what if she gets worse? I’m always so worried about her IBD / pancreatitis flare-ups.

Honestly if it were just the two of us or a trip with my family, I’d have already canceled. I’m trying not to think about it until or unless I have to. It is making me irrationally angry though, because I feel like this trip is getting to be a huge concession where I’m prioritizing his happiness at Moonie’s expense. That’s probably not the right way to think about it, but it’s not really a “vacation” if I’m trying to act normal and happy with his family while worrying about Moonie is eating away at me.

For now I’ll reassess this evening and try not to think about it until then.

Here’s another photo of a snoozy snoozy Moonie 🌙😻🐈‍⬛

I’m so sorry Moonie isn’t feeling well. It’s so hard when they have a flare going on.
(You know I can relate) 😭

I hope she makes a quick recovery, Connie! Glad the meds seem to have helped.

I hope you can come up with a resolution for the trip. It’s so hard to travel when they aren’t feeling well.
I haven’t been away from home in 4 years for this reason.
Could Parker go in the trip with his family and you stay home if you’d feel better? Just asking 🫂

Sending you lots of support and healing vines 🍀🍃🍀🍃🍀🍃🍀🍃💖💞❤️‍🩹

I feel for you. I understand. :bighug:
I wonder if you could have the option of going for like 3 or 4 days of the trip.
I always took J.D. with me on trips, but I can relate to what you are feeling right now.

Sorry Moonie isn’t feeling great 😔 really hope she starts feeling better soon.

I know you’re super stressed out about the trip but let’s remember that you have 4 pet sitters and 2 have first hand experience with FD! I really hope you’ll be able to at least somewhat enjoy yourself and Moonie will be waiting at home to hear about alllll the yummy food she didn’t get to sniff! And then little moon moon will be able to go with you as a traveling kitty to all the air bnbs! 💜 hugs 🫂

Thank you so much Staci! I know you know better than anyone the challenges of managing flare-ups. I hope Miss Ivy is feeling much better today and I’m sending you lots and lots of love and healing vines 🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃

I’m planning to monitor today while I hopefully nip today in the bud and make a decision tomorrow. If she’s not back to normal I think it’ll be too hard for me to go. But for now I’ll stay optimistic as Moonie tends to either clear flare-ups in 24-48 hours or go on for weeks, so it’ll be clear cut one way or the other.

Thank you so much Dyana! I’m planning to discuss that option with Parker tonight / tomorrow morning depending on how Moonie does. He’s agreed that Moonie is coming with us on all future trips so hopefully that won’t be an issue in the future :)

Thanks Sara! Yes I’m so excited to be traveling with Moon Moon on all future trips! Though she’s not the biggest fan of car rides so we’ll see :)

Hopefully her flare-up goes away and I can travel (mostly stress free). We did line up some really some good pet sitters so I do think they can do a good job if she’s feeling well.

Paws crossed that Moonie clears this flare quickly and it’s an easy decision.
Looks like we both need the vines and love, sending more to you both too 💞🍀🍃💖🍀🍃💞🍀🍃💖

One thing you might want to consider, is seeing if there is a vet tech from your local clinic or elsewhere who can do emergency visits if needed. This March, I was away in Italy when my kitty decided to go on a food strike, possibly pancreatitis? Petsitter could give ondansetron and Cerenia if needed, as well as Mirataz. I was planning all sorts of ways to get back home but remotely found a couple vet tech options that could supplement the pet sitter with visits, even assist feeding if required until I got home. I also had my credit card on file with the clinic to cover anything if needed. Darn cat did start eating after a day and a bit, so I carried on with the trip.
