Curry here.

Got puter time this morning while the bean works. Letmee see. My numbers have been a bit elevated lately ranging 85-125 then all of a sudden in the 60's and 70's again. Maybe the Kitty Bootcamp is working. I'll do anything for treats and so my bean makes me chase my treats twice a day at least. Then we try and play...sometimes I don't like to play and just watch my sister. The bean has bought about 6 different toys since I get bored easily. So she'll bring out all the toys to entice me to play. Silly bean. But sometimes she brings out a toy I haven't seen in a while.....WOW....then I run and run and run and run....and get tuckered out. Great fun.

Had my annual vetty visit on Friday and doc said everything was good...even bloodwork. Mom said "no" to the the feline distemper shot this time and he agreed. Sd there is more evidence that the booster stays in my body for a longer period of time. Had to get the rabies though (state law) and had to get premeds...baby aspirin and benadryl since I had a reacation as a kitten and went to the ER. We don't know which shot made me react so I have to get it each time I get my shots. Glucose was 118 after they poked and stuck me....not to bad....had been at 75 before going. Vet said I could lose another 12 oz or so.....in an ideal world where I would be outside running and playing. Its too hot outside....We had a record temp of 109 yesterday....Glad I'm inside and cooooooooooooooooooool.

Lungs sounded good too. The bean is experimenting w/reducing my asthma meds. One less puff in the evening to begin the taper and see how I do for the next 3 weeks. If no coughing, then reduce one more puff....so then it would be a max of 440 per day instead of the 880 I'm getting now of the flovent.

Gotta run. The bean is getting ready to ride her bike before it gets too hot and she needs to give me my flovent.....she is so forgetful....I have to remind her all the time.

Lubs y'all

Way to go Curry!
Debie & Jezebel
PS We won't tell your bean you been on the puter!

What a great Curry update - Curry you are exceptionally articulate! Congrats to you for staying off the juice! AWESOME job!  You take good care of your bean, OK?

Hi Tena - What a gorgeous photo of Curry!! it is so wonderful to read that Curry is doing well, and that the vetty visit was a good one. Kudos to you for being persistent with the play. I wish Mannie would play - he just has no interest, has always been that way... Good luck with the reduction in the asthma meds.

omg on the heat...smart move to ride early in the day - I can't imagine doing that in the heat. I hope your ride today is a good one.

Hi Curry, That's a great report you wrote! I'm so happy to hear that you are doing so well. I have to lose a whole pound and my mamabean has sent in an order for a scale!! Just for me!! Keep on playin'. When it gets cooler by you, I'll come visit. Until then, why don't you come visit me?
Rusty

Hi Tena, Such a wonderful report. Keep up the good work. Curry looks terrific!

Happy 2 Month Annifursary Curry and Tena!!

Hey Tena, glad all is well with you two. What was the reaction Curry had to the shots? My kittens got their first rabies shot a couple weeks ago and I just found out that one of the two I gave to my friend (Thor, the one who had the renal failure) had some sort of mild reaction to it - shaking, lethargy, poor appetite, but it only lasted until about 10pm that night so she didn't take him in. I'm curious what Curry's symptoms were?

Hi Anne....

Curry's temp went up to about 105.

We had gone to the vet to get her shots early one Saturday morning. I believe is was a rabies and distemper. Then that afternoon/evening she was sleeping on me and when I tried to move her she growled and hissed. Not her typical kitten behavior back then. I knew something was wrong. Got my digital thermometer out and just touch the therm. to her back side and it went to 104/105. Took her to the EC and they gave her aspirin and a water bath.....and I think benadryl too then. Since then, we do the aspirin and benadryl as a preventative measure. Never saw it happen again.

Interesting, thanks for the info. Sounds like she was much worse than Thor, he didn't seem to have a fever at all, just the shaking mainly. Glad to hear that with the preventative measures it never happened again.

Have your friend tell the vet before her next round of shots. I hear that a number of kitties can have some "flu" type symptoms. The shaking may have been a fever. I would not have known that Curry was running a fever unless I took her temp. Poor Thor. :( Cute name for a kitten.

I'm actually taking her and Thor to the vet on Thursday - she's a little worried that he's not eating as much as she would like and wants to have his weight re-checked. Vet said not to neuter him until he was about 5 lbs, so she wants to make sure he's making good progress getting there. We will definitely tell him what happened and remind him next year before he gets the shots again. We named him Thor because his purr was the loudest of the bunch - he sounded like thunder

Happy 2 month Annifursary, Curry!!! Great report.....and the photo...absolutely gorgeous.

I'm glad mamabean still has you in boot camp and that you are getting less asthma juice. Maybe as it gets to be less and less, your BG will come down more!!! You are such a wonderful girl.

Tell your mama we miss her and tell Sid hello for us all....nicely!

Hi Tena, what a nice report on Curry! That pic of her is so adorable - she actually posed for the camera!
So nice hearing from you. I hope you had a good bike ride. We are starting to get the heat her now for a change. It's been a mild summer thus far. Glad Curry had a good report from Vetty, and hope the asthma gets stable, too. Those rabies shots can be hard on a kitty. My Siamese 15 year old kitty had the shakes from the rabies shot. Take care and keep in touch here when you can.

Curry, I would luv to come over and play with you. I have no one here to play with except my Bean. She's alright most of the time, but I need a kitty pal, Maggie

I was thinking of you and Curry and Sid and wondering how you guys were doing. What an awesome update! Glad things are going well for Curry and she's still OTJ.

Good luck with the flovent reduction *clapping*.

Maverick had a reaction to shots also - we actually stopped his vaccinations many years ago and prior to that they did the benadryl and gave him only dead virus shots after his reaction which I now know are not the best. I got sent a journal article on shots for cats that I am going to read up on before these three get their shots. I'm only going to do rabies for the three here every three years.

Hi guys! Thanks so much for the update curry, so glad to hear you are doing well .. Im glad you didn't have any reaction to the shots this time, better safe then sorry and take the premeds .. we don't want you sick! Hope to see you around!

CURRY! it's so good to hear from you - we've been missing you and your mom! glad to hear you're doing well! ohmygosh that's a beautiful picture of you!

and tena - miss you and your cheery pics and updates! glad you stopped in - it's good to hear from you. :YMHUG:

CURRY!!!!! My friend....how nice to see you. Cool on the new toys.....Congratulations on your 2 month anniversary. That is so awesome! Good luck with the flovent reduction.....my bean tried that with me and I couldn't do it....had a big flare up after 3 weeks. My bean was very sad....but me, I didn't care. I don't tell her, but I like 4 puffs a day....I get extra cuddles out of it without having to act like I want them...and she gives me an extra treat! Stay cool.....and stop by when you have time! Beautiful picture...your bean is so talented. ~Zoe

Ohh what good news Curry. Boris and I never forget you. You helped us so much in the beginning so we are always so excited to see how you are doing. You stay healthy now - We send you our best alllllll the time!
