Tuscany was a bit short on the purrs this am. She ate forbidden food for her - small nibbles of a solstice fish - and enjoy that. We are using our last raw food that I had in the freezer - she seems to be liking this too. It's kind of funny but in my mind I'm food planning for her - thinking - oh we have to have steak this weekend for Tuscany and we need to have some salmon - for Tuscany. She always did like people food and would come to beg very politely when we had people over. Come and sit next to your chair and just stare - not vocalize. Just stare. If you didn't pay attention she would gently put her paw on you - tap tap - I am here and feed me. If you didn't she would huff away from you and try someone else. I did she a very short grooming session after eating - like a few swipes down each paw and a face rub.

Thanks everyone for listening and sending back the well wishes. It helps.

That is good Joyce...so good that you are planning food that she likes...and that she is enjoying it so much!
Good for both of you! Her little staring act sounds so cute...with the tap tap of her paw if you didn't respond to the stare. Those kitty stares bore holes right through you, right?
So, what's on the menu tonight? Hope you all enjoy her favorite foods with her this weekend...
((Tuscany))
Sending hugs to you all :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Oh yeah, I wouldn't be able to resist Tuscany's quiet entreaty to share a bit of my food. That is such a polite and patient way to beg. She's smart too since she knows to move on to the next person for a better opportunity. :-D

Joyce...just wondering if there are any traveling vets in your area who would come to your home...
don't know if you looked into that or if it would even be an option....

Just catching up on the stories now. Love the patient stare with a paw tap if the stare doesn't work. How verra cute.

Re: 8/27 Tuscany amps~217

Just took CF suggestion and taped some of tuscany purring. Gotta love those Iphones. Course then I was crying all over it but tis to be expected. Did talk to the vet, will be picking up more bupe today. (along with some drontal to see if it helps my one feral who is losing weight). I also will be prepaying for my visit next week.
I had thought of trying to find someone to come to the house - but Tuscany travels well and doesn't really seem to stress too much (plus she'll have bupe on board) and I like our vet. I also wondered what happens to the body when they come to the house. If you want a private cremation do you then have to take the body to the vets? That sounded a bit too much.

I wish that the timing next week could be better. I will have been off on the Wednesday but that is DH bday and he has to travel 2.5 hours to work that day and would not be able to be back by 6 pm. So I will have that day to spend with Tuscany but then we both will go to work and then race home to pick up tuscany. Would have liked to have spent some time with her just before but it is what it is.

Re: 8/27 Tuscany amps~217

Glad you got a recording of her purr. That's a treasure.

Any chance that DH could take off early from work on Wed? Or do 1/2 day?

Re: 8/27 Tuscany amps~217, +6.5~339

Opps! I think we shared just a little too much of the greek yougurt today. Wowza. But she liked it!!

Janice - no go on the off work early for DH - unless it was a true emergency . Besides doing it on Wednesday when it's his birthday.....

at my vet hospital- if you ask for the ashes to be returned, it is automatically a private cremation. You also have the option of them shipping the ashes to you, or to pick them up at the hospital. I was dreading picking them up, but like i said, I felt really bad when I came home and found out he'd been waiting out in the cold cold rain.

I'm sure she's enjoying all the food you've been preparing for her. It sounds like you are making the most of the time you two have left together. I know how hard it is... and I'm thinking of you and Tuscany every day.

Re: 8/27 Tuscany amps~217, +6.5~339

Thank you so much for sharing your Tuscany stories with us. I know how hard this is for you and you DH. I just wish you could get even more quality time. I am very glad that Tuscany is still eating well and that you're getting some purrs. Sending you ((((HUGS)))).

Re: 8/27 Tuscany amps~217, +6.5~339

Sorry, Joyce, I forgot about his birthday. I know what you mean. Maybe you could come home early that day? I'm just trying to figure out a way so that you can spend some non-rushing time together before, if possible. I've been thinking about you guys lots these past few days. Keep soaking up all of her sweetness.

Re: 8/27 Tuscany amps~217, +6.5~339

(((((Joyce))))) Lovely that you were able to record Tuscany's purrs. Lovely that she is enjoying dining with her beans. I hope you can work something out for that day. Our Alice's ashes were hand delivered and they called first to make sure we would be home to receive them. The pretty little tin box sits on our piano and I give it a little pat every day. Stu never knew Alice, but he often sits quietly on the piano next to her box. It is touching to see.
We hope you all will have a really nice weekend together.

Hugs,
Ella & Stu

Friend over to say goodbye tonight.

You can tell how ingrained shooting gets. I took a shower sometime after 1 pm today. Laid down for few minutes after and fell asleep - which is unusual for me. not quite sure how long I was asleep but I woke up at 2:10. Thought - OMG - how could I sleep so long - I forgot to shoot Tuscany. In those few seconds I was trying to figure out how far out of sync with the shot time I was going to be. I bolted out of bed - only to realize that I had already been awake earlier, done all that, and it was ok..... Heart settled down and I realized it was ok, just a nap.

Someone elses bat story (michelle /mannie?) reminded me of a few Tuscany stories. When we were in the old house - DH went to shake out a rug right by the front door. The birds had a nest there and the sudden shaking startled them. They flew out - and reversed cause the rug was in their way. One flew right into the house. The cats thought they had won the lotto. They were so happy to be chasing this bird! I did finally get the cats isolated in one room and the bird in the other. Was able to get bird out. When I finally let the cats out of their safe room Tuscany was very upset - looking for that bird -demanding where we had stashed it. Was funny at the time.
