Shadow is settling in well to dosecrease from Tues and #'s slowly dropping, we are about 6 cycles in, she's gotten a few blues but mostly yellows still, no thoughts about dose changes at this point as she hasn't levelled off yet. Libby said it can take a few cycles to get a good idea of how she's going to do on each dose change - we're not there yet at 3.5u bid.

Would like to know the dealio re: daily threads. If we are rocking along with nothing to report, is it expected that I will still come here and say that? Hate to waste the bandwidth with small matters and there are folks that need the experts more than we do at this point and I know you are here if we need you, but I don't want FDMB to get hurt feelings if we go a few days between posts. have searched stickies, it is not specifically mentioned. And as I said yesterday, got this family thing upcoming, may not be around much.

So what's the scoop?

Kim

Re: 8/27 Kim's Shadow AMPS 214 and ? re: daily condo etiquette

morning guys! A nice low yellow is a good way to start the weekend .... as far as condo etiquette goes, I think it's a good idea to post in when you can, even if it is just all 5 p's in place, that way one day if something was up, like shadow wasn't eating, we would all know that shadow normally eats fine every day .. so that is something to look into you know? But it's all up to you anyways .. we don't get mad if you don't post, we all have days where we cant spend time on here ... hope that helps!

Re: 8/27 Kim's Shadow AMPS 214 and ? re: daily condo etiquette

Generally, we post everyday even if nothing is going on....other eyes might see something that we are missing. If family things are planned then you can update when you are available again...linking your last post to the one when you get back...
So, this is the 6th cycle on this dose ...maybe someone will have something to suggest at this point when the see her SS. How is she doing otherwise? Maybe check back today with updates if you can...and see if anyone has any suggestions okay?
Hope you have a good weekend...

Re: 8/27 Kim's Shadow AMPS 214 and ? re: daily condo etiquette

Yes, I would say continue to post every day that you can. Like the others have said, that way if you DO need help at some point, people are more up to date on Shadow. Plus we all like to read that other kitties are doing great!

Re: 8/27 Kim's Shadow +5.5 154

thanx for the explanations. I am so very grateful for the help I've received, and keenly aware of the generosity of the folks here who share their knowledge and their time. I would never want to run afoul of the group's expectations.

Re: 8/27 Kim's Shadow +5.5 154

Shadow's so close to her normal self on blue days - the polyuria is markedly better, the ravenous appetite diminishes and she chases the sunlight across the floor for the perfect spot for a nap.

Here's one interesting observation though - I have previously mentioned her tinkling on the laundry room floor. I happened to pass by as she headed into the kitty box room (laundry room) and I watched her crawl into the box and I'm thinking her back legs are giving her problems. I'm going to cut the side down lower, make it easier for her get in there. She is in her second week of methyl B12, I hate to think how she'd be if I hadn't started it when I did. Poor little thing.

(although there is really nothing little about her - 14.4 lbs of short sqatty legs, short litte tail, big wide tummy)

thanks for all you do for us.

see y'all later for PMPS

Re: 8/27 Kim's Shadow +5.5 154

Cutting the sides down if you can sounds as if it would help her. She is trying, the sweetie...so maybe that will do the trick. Let us know how it works for you, oka?
And Kim...You can leave the AMPS in your header...that way we can see the progression. A few updates will fit with the PMPS when you get it. I usually fit a few in the header and change them if I get a sparkling number that I want to stare at! It's NOT a big deal or anything...but it seems to be the way everyone does it. Well, you DID ask earlier about what to do, so I thought I would mention it.

My Shadow was ravenously hungry before he was diagnosed. With the PU/PD too. I thought he would never get enough to eat. For awhile I practically fed him till he walked away from the dish. What I learned here was that with the Diabetes, they are not utilizing the food properly and are basically being starved. Once we start with the insulin, the food is digested properly with the insulin and they stop eating that way. Their hunger returns to normal. I noticed his fur improved each week and he began grooming again...something he had long given up. He has luxurious fur now and his weight gain looks great on him.
It's a good sign that she isn't as hungry as she had been...
you are doing a great job Kim!!! And that is a great +5.5 too! Yay!

Re: 8/27 Kim's Shadow +5.5 154

Kim, will you be around much to test this weekend? It has been 6 cycles on this dose, and I think Shadow is ready for a dose increase. If you'll be around this weekend, I would probably go ahead and bump by 0.5u, to 4u BID. If you won't be around much, then I would only increase by 0.25u. Things are looking promising, and hopefully the next dose will give some action.

Oh my goodness! :o

I am home the rest of the weekend, went by Sam's today and bought 100 strips. It's destiny. I'll do 4.0 in the morning.

Except I am going to post my AMPS # first, it seems like I see her BG dropping with every passing 24 hours. Mostly mid blues today. Do you think she might not drop any more on her own? Or is the goal to push it a little? I don't mean this to sound like a debate, I just want to pick your brain, learn the logic of what we are doing.

Geez, I think I'm getting the vapors, this is exciting.

nice, try to get some spot checks tonight to see what Shadow does with this pretty PMPS. Yes, you can post in the morning before shooting. If she gets green or low blue tonight then that will change the dose recommendation.

My idea was to push it a little, to try to get her into blue/green 24/7. She might get there on her own, but if we can safely move her there quicker then why not? I think this is exciting though. Look at how much LESS insulin she is on than she was a week ago, and she's still getting these numbers.

couldn't have done it without ya'. just can't thank you enough.

so we are wanting to say goodbye to yellow. cool.

I'm up for it.
