Well we had a little dip at pm +6, so I tested a few more times, but it just went back up. Im having a terrible problem with bubbles again. Maybe these syringes or maybe because its such a small amount. Im using the caliper, but I use the small side and found a calculator online to calibrate it. Its been working great but this morning, with that 0.25U dose, I would push it to the place where the dose should be and it was pushing out all the insulin because of a stupid bubble. I tried several times to get rid of it, squirting out the insulin twice, but no go, so I just measured it manually. Maybe it was just that particular syringe. I should have just tried another one, but was frustrated already. I will keep trying, maybe calibrate the caliper once again.
Anyway, who knows what she is going to do with this dose. The pattern seems the same. High during the day, drop early am.

Phew, she is just all over the place, that has to be stressful to manage, Jo. I hope she comes down gently here and levels out a bit for you.

Ive had to scrap the caliper for now. It just isnt working with such a low dose and the bubbles. Ive been testing the syringes with the caliper before I put in the insulin to see where it lands, so then I eye it. I think there is still a bubble in there, but not much I can do about that, as long as I try and keep the dose as consistent as possible.

Thanks Mary and Seth! 💚 The worst part really is trying to get enough sleep. I wish I had time to sleep during the day. As I mentioned to Connie, I had to scrap the caliper. It just wasnt working for the low dose and the bubbles. I honestly dont know what could be causing such highs and lows. Its puzzling really, especially since weve taken care of the problem she had with her teeth. One thing is that its been soooooo hot here. Im in southern California near the beach and we dont have air conditioners, because we dont need them, usually. But for the past few weeks the temps have been almost unbearable. Ive had the ceiling fans running 24/7 for weeks. And its not letting up. Maybe thats affecting her. Its certainly affecting me.

Ugh I’m sorry Jo. I’ve thought about getting those micro scales and weighing out the dose but I don’t know if that would even work with 0.25u, it’s such a tiny amount. I agree that consistency is what’s important - and that it’s hard to get the bubbles out completely when it’s such a small dose to begin with.

Hopefully it starts getting cooler over in Southern CA! I didn’t realize it’s been so warm over there.
