Good morning all!

It's another lazy day here in the Casa de Deborah & Shasta! Weather is overcast and then sun shiney and then overcast and then sun shiney! Shasta is stretched out on the chaise and I'm thinking about moving her so that I can lay down and she can crawl on top of me. I feel a nap coming soon!

In an effort to stave of massive drops this morning, I added a teaspoon of 13% to her breffis (4%) and to her snack at +2 (2%). Still a big drop between +1 and +2, but much smaller drop to +3. We'll see what she's got in store at +4 and then up she'll go. :YMSIGH:

Most of the P's are in place. Nap time takes precedence over play and preening. Be back later!!

~Deborah & Shasta

AMPS=255 (1 oz of 4% w/ teaspoon of 13%)
+1=283
+2=166 (snack of 2% w/ teaspoon of 13%)
+3=117 (snack of 2% put out, not interested right now.)
+4=92 (just now eating her 2% snack; then napped on my lap for an hour!)
+5=97
+6=126
+10=224 (nails trimmed & anal sacs expressed)
PMPS=317 (4% w/ tsp of 13%)
+1=264 (added a little more 13% into left over dinner...she ate all the 13% from PMPS)
+2=169 (2% w/ tsp of 13% snack)
+3=88 (2 & 3% snack)
+4=78
+5=106

Sounds like you and Shasta have a nice relaxed morning.
Hope you can have the whole day go that direction before Monday comes rolling around!

Morning - things sound nice and peaceful there. I like quiet mornings. Looking good this morning Shasta - very nice drop for your +3. Good luck with the food - experiments are good, - I went through alot of this with Mannie in an attempt to control his drops and dives. He was such a master diver.

Enjoy your day today - I hope it is a good one.

Shasta would like to know if she could substitute either playing or preening for pnapping?! (the p is silent...she's a cat, what do you expect?!) :-D :-D

So far, she's the only one to get a nap...I mean, to get multiple naps; as opposed to my no-naps. :-x

hiii gurls!! no napping, no good!! hmmm i've been wondering what the 'p's' everyone talks about are, now i know!! -- play, preening and pnapping!!
i hope you are pnapping now, on the bit of chaise that shasta has allotted you (i am imagining that this might be the case, unless she is using you as couch to lie on - hahaha) it all sounds deliciously relaxing cat_pet_icon thank you guys for the adorable kittyhugpic!!! it totally worked!! *hugs* back! -Zar

Nice cycle today for Shasta, and nice job controlling the drop with food. Glad the storm hasn't affected your part of the state. Thanks for visiting us today.

Thanks everyone for visiting our humble abode! Shasta has been very sleepy today. Can't say as I blame her...overcast, off/on rainy day...perfect napping weather. Yeah, I never got to my nap. Oh well. She's a little ticked at me right now. I've been meaning to trim her nails for a few days now. But, as I noticed her licking her bum, I figured her anal sacs needed to be expressed...again (it's been just over a week). I got smarter this time...I wore jeans!

Alexa - I'm thinking there really ought to be 6 P's: peeing, pooping, purring, playing, preening, and pnapping! :-D

Re: 8/26 Shasta PMPS=317

wow :o

then she should drop right back down soon.
that's ... _____. (blank )
I don't know what to say....
you caught me off guard with that one.
I'll go bang my head on the wall to knock on wood....
I hope not to ever have to go there....

Re: 8/26 Shasta PMPS=317

Wow, you're brave to do the anal gland thing again. Any improvement in the output this time? I hope that number comes down. Nice and easy, right, Shasta? Our internet was out this morning. I'm way behind.
Liz

Re: 8/26 Shasta PMPS=317; +1=264

Rhiannon - I hope you never have to go there either! and honestly, I never thought I'd be trying to do this by myself, but this time was a bit easier than last time. (not that either time was easy!)

Her numbers are coming down in somewhat typical Shasta fashion. Although, I am trying to help slow them down a bit with small teaspoons of her Friskies 13%. Hopefully, she won't plummet like usual!

Liz - I'm not sure that brave is the right word for it!!!!  This time was a bit easier. I figured out that it worked a little easier to lay her on her back on my lap, her head at my tummy. She was still pretty pissed and squirmy and NOT SO HAPPY with the momma bean, but she did expel one of her glands by herself. I think it was the same one from last time and I would bet it's the one that the vet got really good when I took her in a month ago. I'm not so sure about the other one. When I took her to the vet, she got one of them really well, but she didn't know if she had gotten the other one well enough by the time Shasta really got nasty. I'm wondering if that's the one that keeps irritating Shasta. ??? I'd prefer not to take her back to the vet.

Actually, I need to talk to the vet about what to do when we need to renew insulin. Not knowing any better, I've been using the vial of Lantus. But from everything I've read, since Shasta uses such a small dose, I should really look into using the pens. Any advice? Anyone? I just started this vial in May, but of course, I had been doing things so wrong this whole time until this message board. I rolled the Lantus in my hands; I pulled out more insulin then needed and injected back into the vial (without removing the needle from the vial, of course)...but still...all wrong advice. So, in my mind, this seemingly full vial of Lantus is done and I should start using pens.

Wow, this is a really long post. Sorry. I'll be back shortly.

Oh yeah, and Shasta says... YEAH RIGHT! I'm still working on my diving form for the 2016 Olympics! WHEEE!

But don't worry, I'm trying to slow her down with a little teaspoon of 13% here and there. ;-)

Here's a first...I'm actually ready for bed...and it's only 10:53pm!!!! I'll get a +5 (in ~ 5 minutes), watch the news for T.S. Isaac info and then BED!!! (assuming Shasta is starting to rise) :-D
