Morning ~O) ~O) Maggie is back up to yellow again. I'm puzzled as to why she can't keep the nice surf going, as I know for sure she didn't have any food after the +6.5 last night! I got up to get some ice and saw the clean plate. :? I know I need another vial soon, and I need to add another drop. I didn't add a drop this morning as I have laundry and need to get out and about to the store. No poo yet (third day), but Mags sure has a good appy! That food has to go some place and hopefully not weight gain! She is fluffy and feels heavy! She's worried what Vyktor thinks about her fluffy shape!
Thanks Amy, Roni, Serryn, Anne & Zener and Dale for your visits after I signed off early. Fatigue took over early.

Dale, I tried the tummy massage that you recommended and that is so helpful for Emma. Maggie loves the tummy massage, and I tried the U method til I got to the legs, and then I got a little bit of the bunny hop leg kicking. So that part still needs work, but the actual tummy massage she loves and purrs away! How long do you recommend I do the massage?

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209

Hi Ann!

I'm glad you're going to try the tummy massages - seems like a bunch of us recommended those!! Great minds think alike

I do them on Karre every day, because he's a senior now and tends to have 1 or even 2 days in between bowel movements and I want to keep him moving. He's very easy going, and he seems to enjoy them, so we're lucky on that score too! They last about 5 minutes each time. On very cold days I also give him a warmed pillow (filled with cheery pips) to place on his tummy, because his bowels seems to slow down even more when it's cold.

Hope it helps Maggie too!
Hugs
Jane

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209

Thanks Jane; five minutes seems to be about right. This morning she was laying in bed with me on her side, so I was trying a tummy massage that way. Lots of purring! Maggie will actually lay on her back on my lap and let me do the tummy massage. The warmed pillow (filled with cheery pips) for Karre sounds so therapeutic for him. Have a great Sunday, Jane and Karre! :YMHUG:

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209

How sweet Maggie likes having her tummy rubbed, i hope it works for her.

That AMPS is almost blue and i hope she comes down for you. How long has your vial lasted this time around?

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209

Hi Tracy, I bought the vial May 15, so three months! I normally use until the 4th month. The Vet said the vial is good for six months, but I sometimes forget and leave on the counter for 15 minutes, so I don't trust it that length. Just to make sure I try and refill every three to four months.

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O)

Maggie - what are you doing on the yellow floor. Maybe it's just the need of a new vial.... could be as simple as that. I used to be able to get maybe 4 months out of a vial, before I noticed a slight upward swing in numbers. I use the pens now though. I wish you luck in getting here back to the low blue amps. I am sure you will be successful. :-D Time for a dosecrease Maggie? Wish you luck there too, when you decide to go ahead with it.

WOW on the tummy massage. I will have to see how Mannie likes it. cool! Hope Maggie leaves you that prezzie today.

Enjoy your day today. A walk maybe? Have fun with those chores, and the errands....

+4 173

I think this may be a later Nadir or a slow upper blue surf! Maggie's feeling good though and has had several tummy massages! :-D

Michelle, I think the vial is probably losing some of its oomph! I, too, hope we can get her back into some nice numbers. I don't know if the colon problems keep her on the high side. I think a walk today in between the wash and dry cycles. :-D

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

best thing is is that she feels good! The numbers will get back there. U winder on the colon problems, if that is contributing. I dunno... maybe if it bothers her, or if she senses that is different it could elevate the BG's?? Interesting thought. I am glad she likes the tummy massages - seems alot seem to feel that they help. :-D :-D

Cool on the walk! Sounds good to me. :-D

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

Do you ever give something like a little vaseline for hairballs? since we can't use petromalt anymore.
That might help things move a little more often.

Enjoy your day!

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

Thanks Michelle on the numbers and colon. Yeah, I think she will get back on track. There is another drug the Vet recommended called Cisapride, but first I want to do some research on it. Yes, Mags loves tummy rubs.

Rhiannon, thanks on the suggestion of Vaseline, and no, I've not yet tried it. Too bad the Petromalt and there's another that really worked are off limits.

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

Ann, Vaseline is what I give Checkers for hairballs, 'cause he hates all the flavored commercial remedies.
I've found the best thing for his hairballs is grass , then he upchucks on the lightest colored carpet, he can find.

Ooh, you're so lucky to be able to Maggie lie on your lap and be stroked. Checks gets stroked at his convenience, like middle of the night

Have a great day, Ann

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

Thanks Barb on the vaseline suggestion - that's two recommending it! Do you let Checkers lick it or place it on some food? There's something called Lactose that my GA kitty used to love, but it has sugar.

Yes, wish I could get a video of Maggie on my lap. :-D

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

Looks like Mags is bringing it down, nice-n-easy. So sweet on the belly rubs!!!

Have a great day, Ann!

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

Hi, Ann,

I would think 5 minutes would be fine, too. I used the rice sock on Emma, too, or a hot water, bottle. You just have to be careful that neither one is not too hot, of course. Babies' skin is very sensitive to heat - moreso than adults. They burn more easily. It may be the same for cats? I don't know, but at least they will react and move away if it's too hot. Babies don't or can't.

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

I'm curious about the vaseline, too. How do you feed it? How much to you feed? How often do you feed?! Inquiring minds want to know!

Maggie, you have some lovely numbers going today! Sorry, lovely for us...I guess you are used to more pretty blues and greens! :-D Keep going girly!!

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

OH look at Maggie coming down nice and slow. :-D

Ann, Checkers won't take any hairball stuff easily, even the Vaseline. I scoop a blob....probably half a teas, on my finger open his mouth, and scrape it off behind his top front teeth.
I would love to give him butter, which he LOVES but vet said it works as laxative, but vaseline binds with the hairball and scoots it along.
Ooh, I just realized what I said....butter works as laxative. Have you tried bits of it for Maggie?

I'm afraid to give Checks grease, because of my fear of pancreatitis.
Susan's dog was hospitalized with p'itis, after eating 2 slices of pizza. My dog was also hospitalized and almost died, while with a petsitter. I had told her,he could have table scraps, but neglected to tell her he was never fed fat. I don't know what he was fed.
Vet said, some kind of grease.

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173

Nice blue, Maggie!!
Ann, so sorry Miss Mags is still having the poo issues. The idea about a little butter sounds interesting. Never thought of that!

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173; PMPS 188

PMPS 188
We managed to stay in the blue!

Hi Amy, I think Mags and Trixie are still in cahoots! I'm about to try a little Greek yogurt and see if it helps.

Dale, thanks for the idea of the rice sock for her tummy.

Thanks Barb & Checkers on the way you dose Checkers with the vaseline. :-D I was afraid it might get stuck on the roof of her mouth. The same thoughts crossed my mind with the butter and problems down the road.

Deborah & Shasta, thanks on Maggie's numbers. Yes, we used to be on two drops and more blues and greens, but a little setback here.

Hi Carla, I just checked and no prezzie, maybe tomorrow.

Hi Georgia, thanks for stopping by today. Yes, still working on the bottom issue.

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173; PMPS 188

Neko also gets vaseline for hairballs and used to get Petromalt. I just put 1/2 tsp on my finger and she licks it off. The very first time Neko got into any sort of low numbers she let me know because she was nose first rooting around the testing kit looking for the vaseline in it. I give her some once a week, or if she looks like she wants to hack up a hairball. You've just reminded me it's time to hunt out the vaseline. I've heard it's best not to give it the same time as meals.

Nice to see Maggie is in blues again. Also interesting reading about the tummy massages.

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173; PMPS 188

Detective Poo checking in. I'm sorry there is nothing to report. We give Zener tummy massages. He loves them and purrs, when he's feeling good. We started after we noticed that his appy would zoom after a vetty visit and decided it was because of the palpitations that they do. Blues are nice but greens are better, Mags.

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173; PMPS 188

Hi Wendy, I know kitties loved the Petromalt. Interesting with the vaseline as quite a few have success with it! Never thought about it. Maggie loves plain Greek yogurt and popcorn of all things. She doesn't get the popcorn any more.

Detective Poo, I'm so disappointed we don't have some prezzies to be added to your report. I hope tomorrow. Maggie has had some appy today, now I wonder if it is the tummy massages. I know Zener also loves them.

Re: 8/26 Maggie AMPS 209; +4 173; PMPS 188

Sorry to hear that detective poo didn't find anything in the lb:( I know how discouraging and worrisome it can be. Here's hoping the detective can find something tomorrow. Hope Maggie comes down for you a bit. Those numbers look like an imposter may be in your house:)
