Hi Everyone,
How are all the kitties and their well trained human families?
Winny and I just wanted to stop by and say a massive "THANKEE" to everyone here who helped us earlier this year. Winny and I were both really sick at the same time in the spring - I'd just had a big back surgery and at the same time Winny suddenly developed weird symptoms, which this site identified as diabetes.
You guys helped us with diet changes, how to talk to the vet, testing techniques, Lantus storage, injections, best places to order glucose strips, which treats to use, when to feed, how to do a curve... and then a month later after finally learning the new normal, Winny's levels dropped low... and stayed low.
Winny has been OTJ for over 3 months. We're on a FF Classic diet with 100% meat treats. His back leg neuropathy has slowly improved over time and for the past few days I can hear his back claws tapping on the hardwood floors like little high heels as he walks. He can jump up onto the sofa again, although we still have boxes placed everywhere for him to use as stairs
We realize that Winny could relapse any time, and we're just enjoying each day that comes along.
Our vet clinic has declared Winny to be a miracle, but the real miracle was the outpouring of help, support and empathy that we experienced from the people on this Lantus board. I really cannot thank you all enough. If I had struggled with this alone, I'm quite sure it would have been awful for the whole family and probably would have killed our Mr Winnypants.
All our love and thanks to everyone who helped us (Winny offers a few freeze dried chicken livers to fellow kitties)
