Pumbaa
Member Since 2012
Since yesterday at +7 am, and other than two <250 PS numbers, Pumbaa has been surfing nicely in the blues at his 2.25U dose.
• He hasn't been bouncing and diving! :thumbup
• He's showing a nadir mid-cycle again! (Even though he's having a Lantus double-dip around +10 sometimes.) :thumbup
• He's acting much more normal (I'll explain that one in a minute) and happier without the brutal bounces and dives that he had been going through! :thumbup :thumbup
• I've been able to catch up on sleep and work all day without being in an exhausted stupor! :thumbup
• I'm still having a hard time with these UltiCare syringes, as the plunger is very stiff and the top has those stupid little dots on the top that can cause it to seem like that is the top of the plunger for dosing. I really need to order new syringes. Anyway, tonight, it seemed like the dose was not quite a 2.25 but more like a skinny 2.50U. I tried and tried to turn the plunger and get a small drop out, but was afraid that I would go too far and have to toss the whole thing. Once that plunger decides to move, it moves more than you want it to. :-Q
• While I am very happy that Pumbaa is staying below renal threshold now, I would like him to have more green numbers with the blues, and might increase him to a skinny 2.50U in the morning, depending on what he does tonight. At the same time, I don't want to bring back the bounce/dive - bounce/dive routine.
• Sometimes having a Border Collie is a blessing! (More on that below.) :thumbup
Here's Pumbaa acting more "normal":
This morning it took me almost 45 minutes to catch him to test him and feed him and shoot him. After I got up and was washing and brushing in the bathroom, Beck (the Border Collie) finally decided to allow Pumbaa in the bedroom. Pumbaa jumped up on the bed and took over his favorite spot on a pillow. As soon as I finished in the bathroom and thought that I could walk towards the bed and pretend to want to pet Pumbaa, then grab him for testing, he read my mind and darted under the bed. Little ****. I ignored him, went to the kitchen, fed Beck, prepared the syringe, and then started the cat feeding process. No Pumbaa. I fed Larry (the civvie) and went into my office to start up my computer, knowing that Pumbaa would think it was safe to go into the kitchen if I was in my office. Not this time. I resorted to using the cotton-topped mop to try shoo him out from under the bed. It worked, but as soon as I got around the side of the king-size bed Pumbaa was on, he darted back under. Lather, rinse, repeat, from the other side. This went on a couple of times until he finally decided to dart out of the bedroom. Right into the guest room where the litter box resides. (I was stupid...and should have closed that door ahead of time.) He darted into the litter box, and when I heard him peeing, I quickly popped the cover and got urine for a ketone test. Hahahaha! At least I earned one point here! After trying to grab him out of the litter box, he darted under the futon. I used a cane to try to "entice" him out from under there, but he just moved further back. By this time, I was cursing up a storm, and simply moved the futon, leaving the little guy totally exposed! He hid under the futon again, and I just moved it again. So, when I wasn't near the door, he darted into the living room. I closed the guest room door behind me, and chased Pumbaa into the living room. He knows he can hide behind the recliner, and wait for me to go back there to grab him, then dart beneath the end table and around the love seat and under the end table between the love seat and the sofa before I can circumvent to recliner, so that is what he did. This living room chase routine went on five times before I finally caught him. *LMAO* Who need to join a fitness center????
This is why Beck, the Border Collie is sometimes a blessing:
Beck frequently herds my cats, much to their displeasure. I need to teach her to do this on command, to help me catch Pumbaa for testing! Tonight, for the PMPS testing, I had already closed my bedroom and the guest bedroom doors, so Pumbaa only had the living room/dining area, kitchen, and my office to have me chase him around, and once he goes into my office, he's trapped with nowhere to hide. Pumbaa was under the dining room table, and made a dash for the living room, around the sofa. Normally I would have followed him, but instead, I took the path I had made by separating my sofa from my loveseat enough so that I could walk between the two. I had him cornered from that direction, and Beck had followed him from behind, and nailed him with her paw until I got there! Bless you, Beck!!! More pizzle for you tomorrow for helping me tonight!
I don't make this stuff up, people. That's why I'm the warden of this insane asylum! *LOL*
