Vet wanted to know his AMPS & PMPS from last night/this morning. She said to try without insulin today (dropping from drop dose to none) and see if he has spikes after eating/6hrs.

I don't think it's the best idea, however, ~100 seems to be lowest he's gonna run with this food.

We're leaving town this Friday, and will be coming back Saturday night. I'll probably double the auto-feeder output while we're gone so they both can eat decently.

Hoping it won’t matter and he will remain the same. We will see. I’m not sure of the point to a +6 without insulin. With insulin it could be the nadir . We have found that 3-4 hours after eating if the pancreas is working the bg comes down. That’s the idea behind the +9 snack.

Absolutely agree. She just wanted to see if he rises out of comfortable levels mid-day I think. I know he tends to have an early Nadir at ~+4.

The good news is he's not @ 200+ currently without it so far. Here's hoping that stays the same. We are still gonna transition to wet food but that'd make this window even harder to fulfill finding one he'll consistently eat.

Updated title with latest info. He's doing really well with just feeding 4x per day and drop doses.

We'll be giving a drop dose Friday morning but leaving town. He'll miss the dose Friday night and Saturday morning, however I think he'll be okay.

The vet recommended after thinking it over to drop the dose to once per day, and recommended at night, however I feel like since they tend to naturally drop lower at night that's not the best idea and instead will opt for it in the morning as they lay around 90% of the day doing nothing haha.

I’d do a drop twice a day if he were my cat. He’s not ever gotten too low. JMHO.

I'm inclined to agree. I don't think he's ready for remission because he's very rarely under 100. He's so close! But the food might still have slightly too much carbs?

He's underweight ever so slightly btw. Vet wanted 13 lbs and he's 12.8.

Does he eat all that you put out? If not maybe try some new flavors. If you are feeding lc it should be fine. What % does he get? I have to say I personally feel the carb percentages we get are not very exact unless we make our own food.

He starts eating and doesn't stop until there's nothing left. He gets 1/2 cup spread out over the day. 8:15 AM & PM, 2:15 AM & PM. It's the Dr. Elsey's CleanProtein Chicken Dry.

It's supposed to be 7% max IIRC.

Both cats love it. Sofi eats a lot more than he used to now because of it. I'm concerned about going out of town tomorrow because I don't know how to feed Sofi without Dexter eating his food.

I have to stand over my two or one will eat the other’s That is tough. Can the sitter at least make sure they both get to eat when he/she is there?

We're having a hard time finding someone to watch them with the virus going around. Her dad works 7 days a week covering for all the short staffs he has and our neighbors we barely know.

I'm trying to find the second auto feeder we have but I can't guarantee Dexter won't try to eat Sofis' food first then his own.

It sucks.
