Hi friends,

Seems like good progress for our old Charlie girl right now. Not sure how long it will last, but we're on a real good run with good numbers at the moment. Charlie seems real happy too at the moment. She is currently OFF insulin for the past 3 cycles (made 2 reductions this past week when she went low on .10 and then .05 units). I know this may not last. Still, happy to see some progress in a real positive direction.

Any advice on what I should watch for at this point? I've heard that if she stays below 100, we can keep off the juice. What are the rules at this stage, and when do we know this is OTJ time for real?

The last time we had an update on here, it was pretty negative so we're happy about the positive progress. Charlie and I are happy for this day and for these numbers, no matter how long this lasts.

Well....

I'm not sure you can shoot a smaller dose so the only thing I think you can do is give a trial a try. Here are the instructions:
  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).
  • If your cat is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!
  • After 2 weeks, if everything is looking good, we have a party!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support he needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

Good luck!!
