I was out of town overnight and had a vet asst give Bucky his pm and am shots. I normally wouldn't do it but I preloaded the 2 doses with the .1 so there would be no confusion or worry on my end. Anyways my question is that I normally shoot at 5am and pm but she could only shoot at 630pm and 730am this morning. I need to get back to the normal time of 5, am I supposed to get 1 hour closer with my pm tonight and my am tomorrow morn? Also do I keep the dose the same? His +5 was at 49 this afternoon with .1u. Thanks!

I think Bucky might be ready for a trial of being off the juice.
Did he eat okay today?

Congrats because, as Dyana said, it looks like Bucky is ready for an OTJ Trial.

Here are the instructions:

  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times (but don't shoot). Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).

  • If he is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If he is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If his number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then his pancreas is working!

  • If all goes well, after 14 days, we have a party!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support he needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

You can still do a daily condo with his numbers and an example of how you might post is:

8/26 Bucky AMBG 62 OTJ Trial Day 1

When we don't shoot the AMPS becomes AMBG and the PMPS becomes PMBG.

Good luck!!

Ok my only other question is that I work all day so I can't rest for about 9.5 hrs during the day so what do I do in that case?

You really only need to test at what your usual pre-shot times were. If you get a higher than expected number, I think it will be fine to test when you can during the AM cycle. If it happens once you're home, then grab a test several hours after Bucky has eaten. The idea is that with a working pancreas, food will cause the pancreas to produce it's own insulin and thereby bring the numbers back down.

So Bucky, I hear your trial starts tomorrow. Stay tuned and be sure to do a post every day so people can cheer you on with your trial. Lot's of fun stuff to look forward to.

Do you have any good pictures? Someone's probably going to ask you to start gathering those pictures for your OTJ video.
