8/25 Beenie IGF-1 RESULTS

I posted over in LL forum just now but I guess I should post here as well. IGF-1 was 277.
I knew it was going to be positive but held out a little hope. I'm sad but we'll get through it.

Knowledge is power. Give Beenie some scritches from me, she's the same sweet cat she was before the diagnosis. And she's got a great bean on her side.

She is the same but not really. Unless the little kitty flu is still in her system her eyes are so teary, her left more than her right. She keeps gagging or choking on nothing. It happened recently after giving treats and I thought it just went down the "wrong pipe" but it is happening now without any food/treats involved. I'm ready to help but I feel like its progressing (soft tissue growth) so quickly. When we went to the vet for blood work he heard some raspyness in her breathing. Her fur has grayed so much since the FD dx. I may bring her in to the vet this week to do a real assessment. I dread it after the trip this Monday for blood work, she threw up on the way there and on the way back pooped...not solid and was such a mess and disaster. Uuugh!

I called the vets office today and spoke to the receptionist and asked her to call MSU to see if she could get the results. She called me back an hour later and they had just emailed it. I told her to forward me the results and I will call the dr to discuss treatment plan. So I never spoke to vet. Will call him Monday to discuss medication.

Sorry to hear about Beenies DX. I'm still wrapping my head around the whole thing...and I think his tumour is quite active as well. Very hungry and having a hard time getting him under 300. Picking up so R today - hoping it helps and gives him some relief.

Keep us posted as to what your plan of action is.
 
I know its a lot to take in. I've been mentally prepared I think so I was upset day one but now I'm ready to tackle this and help Beenie as best we can. We are not going the radiation/surgery route. Its just too much money and no guarantee it will be a permanent fix. We are going to try the Carbergoline med and hope we get the success Marvin did. Other than that treat her with the Insulin she needs.
I hope the R helps get Jimmy's numbers down for you. The hunger can be the Acro but it can still be the uncontrolled diabetes. I finally see a change in Beenie with the eating. She has slowed down a lot. Prior she was inhaling her food and my civvies food if they let her. Hoping the R gets you there. Keep in mind some high dose kitties get all the way in the 20 and 30 U marks so a very high dose isn't out of the question so you will get Jimmy's numbers down one way or another.

Sorry to hear the results. Leo still has soft tissue growth and swallowing issues. I feed him on elevated platters about 5-6 inches high. He often runs from the food after some bites. So I hold the food up to help him eat.

Thank you for the tip! I hope what Beenie has going on is a sinus infection but won't know for sure until the antibiotics kick in. Otherwise its most likely soft tissue growth. Is that something you get imaging done to confirm? I guess there isn't much to be done otherwise but the elevated dishes are a great idea.
 
I don't know about diagnosis or imaging. It is a common Acro side effect. In Leo's case if it was worse we would look at options. But not at his current level for that issue.

I didn't know there were options to treat the growth in the throat. What can be done?
 
Unfortunately I don't know either. I guess if the issue was in a human then surgery. Unless it is life threatening, I doubt this surgery would be done on a kitteh.

Jimmy's fur wasn't so much greying but felt more course. Up until maybe a month ago...now it is super soft and silky. I believe it is the raw food diet he is eating. We noticed a similar improvement in his fur when we switched from Fancy Feast to Natures Instinct.
 
I definitely feel a difference in Beenie's coat. Not as soft as it used to be but I brush her almost daily and that helps a lot too. She loves getting pretty:cat:
