AMPS -272(also tested at 259)
+2 - 355(also tested at 375 and 359)
+4 - 268
+6 - 249
PMPS - 323
+2 - 389

Alright, so another yellow number. But then 2 hours later, I get this? It's really thrown me for a loop since I'm not exactly sure why it increased so much. I mean, looking back, I guess it's happened before. Just always seems so weird.

Re: 8/24 - Tip - AMPS(272), +2(355), +4(268)

~O) ~O)
I don't have a real answer. Overlap and Carryover and depots come to my mind which is foggy since I just
woke up.

The Insulin Depot is not to be confused with Carryover (insulin effects lasting past the insulin’s official duration) and Overlap (the period of time when one insulin shot is diminishing and the next is taking effect).

Happy Friday!

Could also be a food spike. What food has Tip gotten this morning? Or maybe because Tip is a cat. And nice AMPS! The best you've gotten on Lantus. :-D But unfortunately, not quite good enough. Maybe you should ask for dosing advice from the wise ones? Have a great day, Cindy!

Re: 8/24 - Tip - AMPS(272), +2(355), +4(268)

Finally all of my school stuff is in order. Big sigh of relief since I've only got 2 more days left.

But Tip got the normal amount of special kitty mixed grill, I've been cutting back a bit, so it's more like 5oz, I'll be weighing her again sometime tomorrow to get an idea on if I want to stay with that, cut back more, or add more.

I'll see what the rest of today brings, and if she still isn't looking so great on the numbers, then I'll be asking about dosing tomorrow morning.

Re: 8/24 - Tip - AMPS(272), +2(355), +4(268)

Phew! on the school stuff. I'm still getting stuff ready for Monday.

Quite frankly, I think you need to be a little more aggressive about increasing her dose. Staying in these high numbers is not good, as she can develop glucose toxicity which makes it harder to get her to lower, healing numbers. I would encourage you to ask about dosing today so that you can increase tonight if needed. If you wait until tomorrow morning, that's a delay of another day. Plus it gives you another day to monitor before classes start on Monday.

You are doing a great job with Tip. She's lucky to have you for her bean. :-D

Re: 8/24 Tip AMPS(272), +2(355), +4(268), +6(249) Dosing adv

Yeah, I'm hoping my books aren't too heavy. They're ordered, but haven't come in yet.

Alright. I'll ask here then. I guess I'm just so used to her running so high, that I don't want to be too aggressive, even if it's safe.

But...if I was to do a dose increase tonight, I was thinking of going up another .25U? Since it seems like the average is in the mid-high 200's.

Re: 8/24 Tip AMPS(272), +2(355), +4(268), +6(249) Dosing adv

It's a difficult balance, that's for sure, keeping her numbers in a good range but not hypo. I think you are erring on the side of too high numbers. Our #1 goal is nadirs below 200. #2 is all numbers below 200. #3 is all numbers in the normal range, 50-120. We have occasionally made #3 and way too often have not met #1. But we keep trying! :-D

I'm not sure if you should go up by 0.25u or by 0.5u or something different. That's why I would get input from a dosing expert. You might want to use the ? icon too. Paws crossed!

Sorry about that, I fell asleep and Christmas did something to my laptop making it impossible to use without restarting it. She's also deleted some programs off my laptop in the past....cat's a freaking genius I think.

It's mostly just getting used to these numbers, unfortunately, I think. I'll really try to be better about that.

Oh, I'm always forgetting about the other icons besides 911. Yeah, I'll change that.

Re: 8/24 Tip AMPS(272), +2(355), +4(268), +6(249) Dosing adv

I think your +2 may be a food spike or your onset is a little later than the typical +2 so you're getting a bit less of a carryover effect.

With regard to dose, I'd increase by 0.25u. You're seeing some yellow nadirs. I really want to encourage you to not wait so long between dose increases. I think you're flirting with glucose toxicity by waiting a week between increases.

Re: 8/24 Tip AMPS(272), +2(355), +4(268), +6(249) Dosing adv

I did increase by .25u tonight, and will be more aggressive with the increases from now on.

Though one question, what's the difference between glucose toxicity and insulin resistance?

I hope Tip likes her dose change! I can't answer your question about toxicity and resistance, the wise ones here will be able to explain that. Have a great evening!

I hope she does too. Alright, I'll also be googling it to see. I've found a few articles.

You have a great evening too. :)

Good question! My quick google search yields this answer. I hope someone who really knows will confirm or correct. Insulin resistance (from wikipedia.com) is where the muscle cells fail to respond to insulin in the blood. Glucose toxicity is less insulin is produced by the pancreatic beta-cells due to chronic hyperglycemia that may become permanent. I found that in this article: http://diabetes.diabetesjournals.org/content/52/3/581.full. FWIW. Neither one sounds too good, I have to say.

Work that juice, Tip!

Eeps, quite a few words I don't know. It'll be a bit before I'm done with the article. But yikes, neither sound good at all.
