Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
I think Simon is sensing the stress in my life right now and giving me some higher numbers. I haven't seen him this high since he was on the antibiotic. I just don't know what is going on. A couple of days ago he was really low and now this. He is continuing to eat well but has started scratching his head again. I am just so torn about what to do about his obvious allergy--go with the cyclosporin (which has some pretty bad side effects) or the dreaded convenia. I just couldn't live with myself if something bad happens with either one of these meds. This morning, I did give him an antihistimine to see if that might help and will give it to him for a few days. Simon's nose felt really warm last night but it is nice and cool this morning. Any help is appreciated.

Please send positive thoughts and prayers to all our LL sick kitties and their beans today.

Re: 8/23 Simon AMPS 203

Sorry about your stress. Sending you lots of hugs and hopes for your stress to go away. Enjoy your beautiful boy, they sure are precious! :-|

Re: 8/23 Simon AMPS 203

Did Simon see a specialist? Or was it your vet making the recommendation. Would a specialist make your mind at ease to help decide on treatment? I know TAMU and others do phone consults.

That number just has a bite to it huh. Sending hugs for you and Simon and Cleo.

Re: 8/23 Simon AMPS 203

Wishing for Simon (and the others, of course) to make a full and speedy recovery. I'm sure that he's sensing the stress in your life. Animals have an uncanny ability to sense that something's not right before we do. If only to have that ability, too. Hopefully, Simon will come down for you a bit today. And, I hope that the antihistimine helps his allergies, too. I hope that you try and have a good day. *HUGS*

Re: 8/23 Simon AMPS 203

wishing you the best with whatever you decide my older aby recently had a convenia shot and had no ill effects from it but I know ECID I have used it 2x here with no problems so far and my abys are very often sensitive to meds but you never know until you try something

Re: 8/23 Simon AMPS 203

Morning guys! Sorry for the higher number today, and for the added stress for you. It would not surprise if Simon didn't sense it too - they always seem to know. I hope he will come down today. Right Simon?

Good luck with the allergies... I know how you feel in regards to the meds. I have used convenia in the past with one of my civvies who has an sensitivity/allergy issue as well. She did OK with it, but it is not a med I would normally use, just too many issues reported with it. I am still trying to figure out what in the world she is allergic too.... Just when I think we have narrowed it down and I have things under control it starts all over again. she doesn't scratch, but will over groom her flanks and rear legs, looses alot of fur... such a pain, and poor kitty! I wish you luck with Simon. I hope that the antihistamine helps. I will have to remember to check back and see... maybe that would help my girl too.

Re: 8/23 Simon PMPS 97

Wow -- Simon is green this evening! Maybe the anti-histimine has made him feel a little better. Keeping my fingers crossed! I am also going to take Karrie's advice and maybe check on allergy testing. I'm going to call the vet school at Univ. of GA to see if they do that kind of thing. Have a great evening and sorry I haven't been able to check condos today. So crazy at work!
