Jimmy saw numbers below 200 (not by much) at the current dose (11U)...I'm thinking I should hold thise dose for 2 more cycles as per TR:
  • if your cat is new to numbers under 200, it is recommended to hold the dose for at least 8-10 cycles before increasing. >> Note: By oversight, I neglected to do this at 9.5.
Is this the right move? OR should I keep it tightly regulated and increase tomorrow? @Wendy&Neko @saltycat @JeffJ o_O

Since those blues were just high ones, I think you could increase tonight if you wanted to. If it's more convenient to wait another 24 hours, no harm in that either. Nice to see those blues showing up again. It's not like he's really new to them.

I guess his blood is spinning at MSU today. Paws crossed for quick results.

Yes! Jenna at MSU told me call up Friday at 2pm - and they will most likely email me the results. Meanwhile - I'm playing all these potential scenarios in my head about next steps - which is silly until I get the results.

Also - I have two more pens of Lantus left - and think I may change to Levemir on the next order to Marks. Which at this rate of dosing won't be much longer.

I think I will increase the dose tonight and see how he does. I don't like him hanging around in these numbers - as I'm sure he doesn't either...thanks!! Will post as soon as I hear back from MSU.

Jimmy is a handsome kitty. Hope you get the results back soon. I know what the waiting game is like, I couldn't wait, I just wanted to know what was up either way so I could decide on the right course of action for Marvin.

Just seeing the tag. I like Wendy's idea. I prefer to increase on a Friday when possible since it is easier to get those late night tests and cat naps in. Of course, the cat doesn't always cooperate and sometimes a weekday increase is the best option. Hope the results bring some good news. I felt the same waiting for the results and when they came in, the vet made me come in as "They cannot give results over the phone". Jimmy reminds me of Jack, just when you start to narrow in on a dose, he decides to change the rules, it sure can be frustrating having no idea where his numbers are headed.

Looking at the SS, no big surprised when going up to 12 so I think you made the right call. Post when you are getting ready to transition to Lev, there is a reduction in dosing when you switch to prevent overlap of the 2 depot insulins.

Sorry I missed this. A 50+ hour week with deadlines.

You are doing good with dosing. At those high insulin levels, a 1.0 unit change is only 10%. It will be interesting to hear about the test results. I'm betting it is probably acromegaly. You sure are taking good care of Jimmy! Kudos@!
