Good morning LL! It's nice to be back!

Bob seems to feel ok today. I know he's happy to be eating regularly again. I will be feeding him twice a day and maybe putting a snack in the timed feeder at +4. I'll continue to leave at least 3 oz of wet food in the kitchen. I saw Hector eating it this morning, but you never know, Bob may decide he wants some. I'm prepared for the regular high numbers again until we find a good dose. I may continue to give subq fluids every few days to stave off the ketones!!! Also considering buying a water fountain - maybe that will encourage him to drink. Anyone else have experience with those?

I hope everyone has a great Friday! Prayers for all the kitties and beans in need.

Take care!
Dara

Hey Girl!!!

I just saw lastnight's post about your food decision. It makes me sad for Bob, since I know first-hand just how much the YA can help a picky cat. But if he won't eat it, he hasn't really left you with any other choice. You have to do what's best for him, and clearly that's his old food. You tried everything humanly possible to get him on low carb food--and I'm sure he appreciates everything you've done for him these past 4 months. You're an AMAZING mom, and it's time for you to start living again, dag-nabit!!!!

I'm sure in no time you'll come up with the perfect insulin dose/food combo, to get him into the healing greens. And you've clearly got tons of support from LL.

And I LOVE that picture by the way...it's so friggin' cute!!!

Onyx and I are sending BIG hugs to you and Bobber!!!!

Welcome home Dara! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: I know it's hard to give in on the dry food, but Bob has to eat and you have to live. Keep leaving some wet our, he still may come around. ;-) Tess will go off a food and after a few weeks think it is the best thing ever!

I know they didn't go for the NV raw, but have you tried freeze dried? It can be served dry or w/ added water. If she likes it dry, you can gradually add more and more water to it. Stella and Chewey's is generally easy to find, but I don't know the carbs. If the ingredients seem good it may be worth a try. LATER! For now Bob has won the round!

The watere fountain didn't go over well w/ Tess, she was afraid of it! Even though it was very quiet, there is still some sound. We have the Pioneer ceramic version.

I'm sorry Bob is being so picky about the food and you have to go back to the dry, but Bob has to eat. Some cats are just so picky. I hope you find a good dose for him soon with the food switch.

Hi Dara,

Glad that you and Bob are back here in LL! I am glad he is eating again. It is scary when they won't eat. I love the picture of Bob! Your pet sitter has talent, or was it luck? :-D :-D

Hope you find a dose that works just right for Bob and you!

Welcome back, Dara! Bob is a classic case of ECID, and he has to eat. If he won't eat the LC wet food, then feed him what he will eat. These guys know how to get their way! The one "good thing" about FD is, since you test, you can adjust his juice accordingly. Sure, he'll require more insulin than if he were eating LC, but at least he'll be eating, and he'll be getting insulin at appropriate levels. You are an awesome MamaBean. And yes...I agree, what a fabulous picture of Bob!

I hope you stick around in LL...I actually am very curious to see Bob's progress!

Have a great evening, Dara!!

Hi Dara!
I'm glad Bob is eating!

I have two water fountains to encourage Lucy to drink, Pioneer and Catit.
Both are very easy to keep clean.
I prefer the Pioneer one, but Lucy prefers the Catit one.
She loves the Catit, and drinks from it all the time.
