Pretty sure last night was NOT a furshot... so maybe a bounce?? Odd cycle. But then VERY flat (presumably) at the end as his AMPS was the same as his PM+7. @-)

Tink really seems to identify with the ECID mantra.

I'm almost through this batch of needles. My next set has half-inch needles. I'm finding I dont like the shorts, as Tink has long, very plush hair and it's really hard to feel the 31g, 5/16" needle enter his skin. Much easier, IMO, with the 29g 1/2" ones. It's either that, or I shave a spot - but I feel like Tink would consider that cruel.

Starting tomorrow, I will move his AM+5 feeding back to AM+4. His current schedule is carried over from our ProZinc days, trying to avoid too big of a drop at nadir. Of course, tomorrows change will be dependant on my ability to REMEMBER to adjust the feeder tonight. So, we'll see. :-D

Good grief! +11 this evening was 461 and he got up to 480 by PMPS.

Maybe a furshot this AM? But I thought it went in. I dont know what to DO with this cat!!! nailbite_smile

Hey Tink, time to get off that red floor, but let's do it slowly please! Quite the impressive bounce. Neko sometimes likes to do the worst of her bounce three cycles after the low event - just to mix it up some.

You should be able to smell the Lantus if you do a fur shot. Sort of the old band aid smell, quite distinctive. I usually sniff Neko where I shot her, just to make sure I got it in. I also have a long haired cat and use the 5/16 inch syringes. Well, actually in Canada I don't have much of a choice but to use the BD's. You might want to take a look at the post on Testing and Shooting Tips that Marje did. I find the roll method helps with the long hair.

My nose is horrible. I've tried smelling the lantus (on the needle, after those couple drops come out when adjusting the dose and getting the bubbles out) and I can barely detect any odor. Not sure I'd be able to smell it on a cat, mixed with the fur and cat slobber aroma. I always kind of rub the area a little to feel for wetness - of course with such small amounts it's hard to tell.

I like that roll method though - never seen that before. I've always just tented for all subQ things. I've gotten into the bad habit of shooting on the floor - he flattens out and I shoot in the scruff. But visibility is basically zero. I'll start putting him up on the bar, which has great light, and using the roll method. JUST IN CASE. Though the very few times I've THOUGHT it might be a furshot, he's actually had pretty nice cycles.

This is a pretty ridiculous bounce, since I dont see where he would have gone very low. But, knowing blues tend to set him off right now, he could have seen blue yesterday AM, based on the data I have. So maybe that's why? SO frustrating. Every time we start to see a decent trend he has to take the elevator up to the top floor.

With the drop from AMPS to +1 yesterday, it's probably a good guess he saw blue. I like to think of bounces as good things - it means the insulin is starting to do it's job and he is getting down into better numbers and it's just his liver overreacting. The more time he sees the blues, the less he'll bounce as a result.

I've been able to feel wetness when I've done a fur shot. Course, it was a lot easier to detect when we were over 8 units and I missed. I shoot below the shoulders - Neko's hair is a shorter there than the scruff.

Ok... he's gotta be watching these conversations. He took your "bounces are a good thing" a bit seriously. Check out the roller coaster we're on now! Sheesh!
