I took Pumbaa back up to a full 2.50U with tonight's dose because of the iffy doses for 3 cycles with the new UltiCare syringes. I seriously need a very bright light and cheaters (magnifying glasses) to see the markings/plunger on these. But I have 60 of them and can't afford to just toss them, so I will keep using them until I order and receive either more Monojects (I was very happy with the batch I had received and the super thin plunger top made it sooooo easy to see during dosing) or the Terumos.

In hindsight, yesterday's yellows could have just been a bounce off the greens and blues of the day before. And today's yellows could be a bounce off of the greens last night. But I felt it was prudent to take Pumbaa back up one more drop to a full 2.50U and maybe turn those yellows into blues, and at least guarantee more greens so his liver doesn't forget that green is GOOD!!!!!

If those yellows are his way of bouncing now, complete with a nadir mid-cycle, I will be so elated! I want to believe that his liver is getting used to going green just about every day, and maybe the pattern of a high bounces followed by a day-long dive is over? He's still diving...went from 270 at his PMPS last night to a very unexpected 85 just before +6. And, at +7 last night, he had actually gone up a bit, so I convinced myself he had hit his PM nadir and wasn't going to dive any more that cycle. And I went to bed at 2:30 am!

The change to a 7 am & 7 pm dosing time is working very well for me. What a difference one hour makes! It doesn't add any more time between the 12-hour testing/feeding/shooting times, but it actually allows me to get a little more sleep sometimes. I can get a +3 at 10 pm now (instead of 9 pm), and sleep on the sofa from 11ish until 1 am (the +6). Then, if Pumbaa is okay at +7, I can be back asleep by around 2:30 - 3 am, and not have to get up until just before 7 am. Plus, it's easier for me now to work all day, and then do chores for my mom in the late afternoon, and go to the grocery store or whatever, afterwards, without being so stressed that I am going to miss the 6 pm test/feed/shoot time.

PS: It was sooooooo nice to go to Walmart today and get 100 test strips for $18.00! I'm very happy with the Relion Prime, other than sometimes I have to poke Pumbaa a couple of times to get enough blood, but then I had gone to a finer gauge of lancet when I was using the Relion Micro, so I will go to thicker lancets the next time I need to order them.

Pumbaa taunted me with a 50 and a 51 last night. Since the 50 was at +6.75, I'm guessing that he dropped lower than that before I got that reading. Then, he went up a tiny bit, only to have a 51 at +8.5. I tried getting a +9, but Pumbaa was in hiding mode (in the litter box, under the futon, etc.) and I simply could NOT catch him or get him out from his hidey holes.

Since he didn't bounce after last night, and started with a beautiful 142 this morning, I toyed with giving him a skinny 2.50U, but decided to stay the course. It seems like any time he has earned a dose reduction in the past, it hasn't held, and that could be because it was normally after a BCS and/or a skipped shot entirely, and his body had to adjust to that as well as the dose reduction.

But I am praying, praying, and praying some more, that his black/red/pink bounce days are over, now that he's gone green 5 days in a row. The diving at night I could do without...especially since I only got two 2-hour naps last night and need to work all day today. :YMSIGH: (We need a big old yawning icon. *LOL*)

This is wonderful, Suze! It might be that you got that 50 not because you upped the dose yesterday, but because it was going to happen anyway. You are definitely getting close to needing a reduction, I think. It is so hard to catch those below 50s, especially at night.

I'm very glad to hear that changing your shot time is getting more sleep for you AND less worry when you are out and about.

Have a wonderful day!

Should have known Pumbaa was behind the pink toad. ohmygod_smile

As if the flowing river of yellow wasn't enough.

Time to crank up the Detemir.

Chippendale's:

You can't tell me that those two cats aren't communicating! At least Chip only had one huge pink turd. Unfortunately, I'm now predicting another huge dive down from pink tonight. *sigh*

It's all MY fault for posting above that it looked like Pumbaa's liver got used to seeing green every day. Sheesh! When am I going to learn to NOT type stuff like that and jinx myself? ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile

Mommadale:

Thank you for the encouragement!

Technically, taking Pumbaa up to the full 2.50U shouldn't have affected him that cycle, but who knows in his case. Geesh, I just can't figure him out. Like why did he bounce to pink today when he didn't go above yellow for the past two days...even though he's had green numbers for 5 days in a row now?

Catching the <50's isn't hard...what's hard is catching Pumbaa for testing and catching Zzzzzzz's. *LOL*

I want Pumbaa to study Max's chart and memorize the part when Max simply stopped bouncing. :)

If you want Pumbaa to go green tonight, you post: "Pumbaa is in a bounce, I'm calling it a night and getting some sleep." @-)

I'd rather post, "I want to stay up all night chasing Pumbaa around the house trying to catch him for testing, so I certainly HOPE he dives tonight!"

;-)
