Good morning all,

Ella seems to be doing a tad better today. She woke me up to be fed and ate her whole meal on her own. We're still not getting a ton of purrs but she is peeing, pooing, preening and occasionally playing when we really encourage her. My mom is coming over today to play with her so I'm hoping she'll like that:)

Hope everyone has a nice day!

Re: 8/21 Ella AMPS 308 +2=243

Thanks for visiting Barb and Michelle. Well Ella didn't make it in the CPC for round two and of course she's dropping. I tried to syringe her some food but she wasn't interested. I'll have to try again in an hour to ensure she had some food in her to balance out the insulin.

Ella is breaking her bounce today. She still doesn't have the greatest appetite and I can tell that her teeth are bothering her. Greg is picking up some antibiotics for tonight and I hope they will help to settle the pain a bit. She's been sleeping the day away and we've been painting the house; a goal we've had all summer long!

Yeah for green again!  I hope her appetite is picking up a bit. A very nice cycle for Ella.

Now Miss Ella, I know it's been a while since you last saw green, but no bouncing, K?

Re: 8/21 Ella PMPS 104

Thanks for your visits and concerns Wendy, Ann, Roni and Devon:)

Ella surfed green for 4 hours this afternoon and is now on her way up. Greg picked up the clindamycin from our old vet but the bottle says that I need to administer 5 days before surgery. The vet at the clinic we are going to is away at a conference until Thursday so I won't be able to ask her if I can administer more than 5 days in advance. Ella is scheduled to go in for dental on Tuesday and I'm wondering if it's alright to administer 7 days in advance. When I looked up clindamycin it says you can administer 7-10 days in advance but I'm wondering if anyone on the board has done so.

Ella played with DGM a bit this afternoon but still no purrs:(

Hi Tamara,
I don't know about clindamycin for cats, but I do know that Edward was given a 7-day prescription of it a month ago for his infection caused by an insect bite. It is a very powerful antibiotic and upset his body balance. His electrolytes were all out of whack (the doctor neglected to tell him that he should be taking yogurt with live cultures to keep the body in tune with itself). If you use it for Ella, make sure that you also give her FortiFlora (a probiotic).
Nice PMPS Ella!

Have a great evening. Glad to hear that Ella played with her DGM.

Ella & Rusty

Thanks for your input Ella. Sorry to hear that Edward had a rough time on the antibiotics. The fortiflora I have expired in June 2012. Do you think it's still safe to give?

Civie Leroy was on clindamycin for 10 days to treat his minor gingivitis (vet didn't feel dental was necessary). It didn't affect his tummy or litter box habits at all.

Why would you want to give an antibiotic for longer than is necessary? To be honest, my vet doesn't give antibiotics prior to a dental. Vets vary with their preferences or there may be a need to give an AB ahead of time. I just don't know why you would want to have Ella on an antibiotic longer than may be necessary.

Hi Sienne,

The reason why I want to start her on antibiotics earlier is because she's had an infection in her mouth for a while now but we couldn't get her into the vet to do the dental as we were on vacation. I can tell she is bothered so I thought I could start her earlier to try and ease her pain as she has to wait until Tuesday for the dental.
