yesterday

punkin's done his morning routine and is stretched out on the dead branches of the catnip we brought in a few nights ago. so funny how he likes it even when it's just the sticks left! seems like it calms him. His BG has been so great the past couple of days - this seems to be a good dose for him.

we're off today to move our youngest back to college 2 hrs away. i'm sad to see her go - she's fun to have around, but she LOVES college and can't wait to be there. i wouldn't be surprised if this were her last summer at home. you never know.

Yay for low yellows today! Punkin is a winner. :-D I live 800miles from my nearest family, it must be nice your DD is so close!

Good luck with the move. Each littermate set came to us through a different set of circumstances. None of the three sets are related by blood, everyone being spayed/neutered at 6 months of age. Gus just took these 2 feral kittens under his wing and showed them the ropes around our house. His sister wants nothing to do with any cat with the exception of Gus. All 6 are rescued cats with their own stories, all having the happy ending of becoming part of our family.

I love reading about Punkin. He always makes me smile.

I'd love to plant catnip here, but I worry about the outdoor germs and parasites (dirty racoons and skunks tramping around). Do you wash it before giving it to them? For now they'll get organic frozen catnip.

I have a honeysuckle vine growing. I hear hear some cats like this?

Very nice numbers for Punkin - it does seem like he really likes this dose. YAY!!

Good luck with getting your girl back to college. I remember the days.... after a while one gets used to their being gone. it seems empty around here sometimes - I kinda miss the endless chatter and noise and upheavals. Fun times!

karrie, that never would've occurred to me that the catnip might be dirty. it's growing in our garden next to the strawberries and raspberries. but there is deer fencing around the whole area because the deer also like the garden - not sure if that would keep out the possums and raccoons, though. there are plenty of them around. i've seen rats outside too *shudders* - but the kitties have survived the dirty catnip.

it's so odd how punkin responds to it - at first he gets all into it, chewing on it and everything, but within about an hour it's like he's Mr Calm. and even today - 3 day old sticks - he seems calmed by it. a little drugs for my sweet kitter!

got the girl moved, it's a glorious "dorm" room. good grief - it's an oncampus dorm and there are 2 rooms with 2 beds, desks and dressers in them, a furnished living room & kitchen, 2 bathrooms and another sink/mirror alcove, and 3 single rooms, all behind one "dorm room" door. so it's basically an apartment for 7 students, mixed-gender. the whole dorm is full of various combinations like that. this is one reason why college costs so dang much - the living accommodations have really gone upscale.

I wouldn't be concerned about 'dirty' catnip -- it's been growing outside of thousands of years and cats seem to be okay with it. :-D

Julie -- what kind of school does your girl go to?! My dorm room was maybe a 12'x16' room with 2 closets, 2 beds, and 2 desks in it. I moved out February of freshman year and have been paying way too much for rent since! Her room sounds luxurious!
