Max seems to feel a little better this morning. Yesterday https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/thr...7-shot-pm-dose-1-hr-late.251630/#post-2839672
Hey Summer. Yes we are working on it. Thanks for asking. I've been in and out of the house all day today with doctor's appointments and keeping my grandbaby so I didn't feel like I could monitor Max that well today, but I have done better than I thought with checking him. The vet told me to stop giving him the Gabapentin to see if that's attributing to his lethargy, but Max looks so uncomfortable that I ended up giving it to him tonight. Maybe he was in pain today and that made his numbers higher than yesterday, I don't know. @Wendy&Neko or @Marje and Gracie what do you think I should do? He's already had his dose (8 units) tonight. Oh and we have our appointment at NC State vet on 9/28 @10 am for internal medicine. I do not know which doctor we are seeing though.Hey Lori. Is anyone helping you with your Max. His numbers are so high. Can you tag someone for some help?
Thanks! Max also has pancreatitis and he keeps getting dehydrated. I add water to his food. He stays hungry all the time, but if he's not eating, he's curled up in a corner somewhere. The bupe made him agitated when we tried that 3 weeks ago, but I may try it again tomorrow instead of the gabapentin. I just assumed it is the pancreatitis. I don't know if acromegaly would be causing pain. I'm ready to see the specialist. Max has so many problems though including the heart murmur and he usually gets asthma flares in the fall and winter, so I'm worried about that too. I hope there is something they can do for him. I will increase in the morning. Thanks @Wendy&NekoMax needs a dose increase. You can go to 8.5 units next shot.
Gabapentin made Neko sleepy, so we switched to buprenorphine which was much better for her. I have noticed that what works for one cat might not work for another, so it worth trying both of them to see what works best. If you need to give bupe longnterm, you can get it compounded in vials for much cheaper. What do you think is causing Max pain?
Good news on the NCSU visit, even if it is a while away.
