Good morning LL!!! Sending out prayers and healing vines to so many today: Garland, Tipper, Mike's April, Rocket, Tiberious, and any others who need them today.

I know some folks are giving squids to their kitties and I wanted to share our Scottish Fold, Gus, getting his squids. He is so incredibly good. I normally sing to him but I thought I'd spare you all

Marje, thanks for the great video of Gus getting his squids. Gus is adorable and I love the way he likes to give kisses! I am hoping that Cleo will eventually be able to sit still without getting lots of little treats. I hate having to bribe her to sit still for so long without moving. Did Gus always sit so nicely or was it a process? I am also singing to Cleo while she gets her squids. She seems to like it (although i think she is the only one who does!) and it calms her down. How long does it take to give the fluids? It seems like it is taking forever to give Cleo 100 ml. Thanks again for the visual -- very helpful!

What a sweet kitty!!! I seriously could kiss that face all day long!!! Who could NOT love cats after seeing a face like that?

Georgia: he's always been like that from day one of getting squids. It takes about 4 mins for him to get 100 mls using Terumo 21g UTW needles. We usually get a pretty good flow going. I'm glad it helped...I was hoping it would help others giving fluids so they know it can be a calm, easy process. You can't hear him in the video but he's purring.

I should show one with Teddi, too. She does not like to be held and so we weren't sure how it would go and it was a process with her. As soon as we make the tent, before the needle even gets close to her, she hisses     Then she doesn't make a peep when the needle goes in and purrs away and she always stays on the condo when we're done because she LOVES to be brushed and we have a nice brushing session.

Marje, I guess I thought it would take less time for the 100 ml to go in, but I think 4 min.is about the same amount of time it takes for Cleo's. I am using the same needles as you are. Cleo acts all upset when I'm getting things set-up and always hides under the bed or somewhere else. She hisses and makes a big fuss but when I put her on the table, she is real calm once she sees her treats. When I'm finished giving her the fluids, I put her back down on the floor and she acts all upset again and runs like crazy out of the room. So funny.

wow - that was interesting. didn't realize how it all happened, marjorie - thanks for showing it. my cousin takes her cat to the vet 2x a week for the squids. i've told her people online do it at home, but she's not interested.

was Butthead a scottish fold too? i was thinking gus really reminded me of butthead . . .

your little guy captured me, mj! i'm sure you miss him.

Georgia: the larger gauge needle, the faster it goes. You can tweak needle size if you want but it's a trade off for comfort. Some people do use 19-20g needles.....it goes by faster. I just worry about scar tissue build up so the smaller needle I can use, the better esp since they are so patient.

Julie: yes....Gus does bear resemblance to Butthead who we ALL miss. Alot of folks are really scared to try doing fluids but it can be done at home...cats do better at home with them. If I can help your sister, pm me ;-)

Such a sweet boy...reminds me of my Mario, even though M-Ski doesn't get squids. When I sit with Mario while he eats, he frequently stops to give me head butts. The little old guys sure are gentlemen, aren't they?
