Does anyone know if this food has a carb count of under 10%. When I added it to the carb calculator come up with 16 but all it has and it is chicken and herring oil

Thanks for the clearer picture.
Mmm…I would have thought it was low carb but looking at the guaranteed analysis it isn’t.
I’m going to tag @Bandit's Mom to see what she thinks.
@Bron and Sheba (GA)
That’s what I was afraid of. I’m trying to find some thing freeze dried raw that will fit on the under 10% category. Watson has been on a food strike lately. I’m actually thinking of going back to his medium carb food which have 13, 14 and 15% percent carbs just to get him to eat.

The most important thing is he eats well so do whatever you need to do, to make that happen.
Will he eat this food?
I thought all freeze dried food was low carb so I’m not sure about your one. I’ll try @Bandit's Mom again. Also @tiffmaxee

found this today when the other food ran out. Seems lower
In carbs so we’ll try it.
really the only Wet food he’s been eating consistently is wilderness, blue, wild, delights, chicken and trout & chicken. They are morsels so he eats them better than pate. He’s been getting one kind in the morning and one at night. The freeze dried raw is just for an afternoon snack and overnight.

Have you tried Ziwi Peake? I don’t think Open Farm is under 10%. Ziwi is under 10%.

Are you able to see the analysis? I really thought it was under 10 and they didn’t have ziwi at the pet store.

I’m also having a little freak out because I just checked Watson’s blood glucose and it was 501 with a blood draw. I don’t think it has ever been that high before :-(

Unfortunately many raw freeze dried are mc. The food I’m feeding my two is mc which is why I’m constantly trying to find new ones. I’m limited in terms of proteins I can feed right now. Fortunately they aren’t diabetic.

Guaranteed analysis which typically is found on cans and bags of food, as you have shown on the bags above will contain minimum values (crude protein and fats) and maximum values (crude fibre and moisture) which means the values could actually be higher or lower, sometimes significantly, so using online calculators based on guaranteed analysis tends not to give you accurate information. You want to know what the % calories of each macronutrient are, including carbohydrates. I would suggest you call the manufacturer and ask for them to give you either the as-fed numbers or dry matter basis. Manufacturers’ as-fed and dry matter basis won’t have % calories for each macronutrient, they will only be the actual percentage of that components in the food, so you’ll have to go one step further and use this calculating % calories from carbohydrates

Holy cow this sounds complicated beyond my comprehension. . I printed it out so I can read it over 20 times to help me understand. I appreciate the information

Oh I’m sorry! I didn’t want to make things confusing, even though by default, it often can be when trying to analyze food labels ;). At a high level, I was trying to suggest not using GA as the basis for your decision of whether the food is low carb. Ideally the as-fed or dry matter basis would be available on the manufacturers’ website, but I looked at the Redfarm Naturals and couldn’t see it. I did, however find something on Open Farm. I’ll run the calculation for you, just give me a few minutes :)

The Open Farm website shows their own % calories from each macronutrient, with what appears to be zero for carbs. That said, I find it odd how they report as fed and DMB values. Looks like something is off, when you have 5% protein, 47% fat, 40% fibre as-fed /and no protein, 47% fat and 42.11% fibre DMB. Seems wonky, not to mention both as-fed and DMB values they report are more than 100 o_O. Not sure this helps much.

I appreciate you trying to Calc this out for me. I’m glad I bought a small bag of this. I will let them finish it up and search for some thing that is definitely low-carb. It is meant to be an afternoon and overnight snack not an actual meal. If you have any suggestions for low-carb, freeze dried raw chicken, I would appreciate your input
