As luck would have it, she hit green last night. I could see she was on the way down at PM+3 so gave her some MC and set 3 alarms for 4am. Not eating much yesterday but figured it was the heat again. AMPS was 30min before shot because she was refusing food which made me dither about dosing. Probably overkill on caution, she ate some A/D which is MC and I only gave 2u. Then ondansetron, she ate more A/D after 30min.

Nearly 300 at +1 so I'm guessing a combo of 126 rising from possibly lower than 93 overnight i.e. bounce plus giving her MC. Disappointed we are off track but can always give R midcycle if needed.

We're back, should have prelim blood and urine results tomorrow morning. Vet suggested re-checking for UTI which could be keeping her BG up/affecting appetite, in-house culture to start. Now we're home, appetite back - scarfing Tiny Tiger again - but in the pink so gave her some R before remembering this will likely overlap L nadir, though for this cycle I don't care which is bringing her down. 1h later, she is perky and asking for food - drop of 27.

With hindsight I think I could have predicted a bounce from last night's green after so long in yellow and gone full dose. Live and learn. At least ketones dropped down yesterday afternoon, will re-check when I next get enough blood.

Ketones at 0.2! Lowest value she's ever had on this meter (other time was May 11). She is quite chirpy now, cycling between napping and asking for food. If I didn't know better I'd think the vet had given her something. Paws crossed we get back on track this evening and results come back negative for UTI.

Yes! Now you know for next time. Don't expect to get it right the first time out of the gate each time. :bighug:

Was the 220 for spilling glucose into urine your thoughts, or suggestion from the vet? It was about that for Neko (on a human meter), but I've seen it as low as around 180 on other cats.

Vet. One downside of Minnie's lower numbers is that she doesn't give me nice puddles of pee for easy dip testing, so I haven't nailed it down for her yet. Once you know it for your cat, does it vary much? And how do you align the urine glucose value with its corresponding BG, is there some kind of formula for the time lag? I know it won't be precise.

The only data I've got for Minnie is from July 11 -
8am BG 109
10am urine 100mg/dL = 1/10%
noon BG 316, urine 500mg/dL = 1/2%

Thanks for the reminder, I'll try and set things up so I can get a sample again.

I did enough visits to the vet that I would test Neko's BG before she went to the vet for urinalysis. Over time I could see what her high point of BG was the couple hours before the urinalysis, and used that to get an idea how high she could go. I was always pleased when the urine glucose was negative. Vetty was nervous the first couple times, but got used to it. :p I don't think the renal threshold varies much over time.

That’s so cute! I love it when they are Chirpy. I’m happy about those ketones :joyful: Will wait for labs. Good night, Liz.

@Wendy&Neko - what are your thoughts on giving her R? I'm inclined to do it, only 830 so I can stay up to monitor.

ETA - I went for it. Didn't want to wait any later.

Also I got a urine dip test. Diastix betw 1/2 500mg/dL &1 1000mg/dL at PMPS. BG: AMPS 126, +1 296, +3.5 314, +4 287, +5 250, +5.5 247, +7.5 269

Not entirely sure what this tells me right now other than she is definitely above renal threshold, which I already knew! Still, good practice.

I hope the lab results are good tomorrow and Minnie eats :bighug: it looks like she will need a bit more juice but you will probably have to wait for a few cycles to let the depot fill again :bighug: take care sweet and funny @Liz & Minnie

Bloodwork back updated the lab tab in her s/s. Dr afraid early stage of pancreatitis so if she's not better tomorrow recommends SQ fluids daily and possible buprenex. I'm not thrilled about SQ...or another medicine...but DEFINITELY better than another round in the hospital.

"She also had lipemic serum again, as was noted previously when she had pancreatitis. I am concerned she is having an early recurrence of that. We also plated urine for culture since UTI has been a concern for her before as well. If she is not feeling better by tomorrow, we recommend SQ fluids on a daily basis and possible buprenex for possible pancreatitis."

Hi, Liz. I just stopped by today to check up on Minnie. The labs you posted don't look bad. The potassium looks to be in a very good range. Weren't they happy with that? No change in spiro dosing, I assume. I don't see any cell for cholesterol or triglycerides (the hyperlipedemia vet is alluding to). I guess they were high again? She wasn't fasting when they did the blood work. That can also influence those numbers. I read that DM can cause hyperlipedemia. I know I am not telling you one single thing that you don't already know because you are so on top of everything! What are they basing the panc diagnosis on? Just symptoms? Since she's had it before? Back when she first got panc I'm sure they did the Spec fPl.

How is Sam? Nobody's talked about poor Sam for a while. I hope Minnie is being nice to him!
