Yeah, Mr Jack has me on quite the roller coaster ride this week, and judging by this morning's amps number, it ain't over yet! He's all over the color chart- some of it is his picky pants diet, some of it was the heat, some is how much exercise he got with his kittens, but I think some is just his crazy body doing whatever it wants. (South Park pop culture reference: I'm picturing Jack's pancreas saying: "I do what I want!", in a Cartman voice)
Because of the extended length of the food fights we were having, and the fact that several of his siblings ended up with their own health issues and limited my time, I was trying a custom SLGS dose of reductions only if he went under 75, and a half unit less insulin at his pm shot because he had been going low overnight. It seemed to work for a short time, but it's not anymore, so based on @Wendy&Neko 's advice (TYVM for your help!), we are going back to just the SLGS methodology. Jack earned several reductions the past few cycles by hitting the 60's (despite his shooting back to the 200's and 300's in the same cycle) so our current dose is 5 units am & pm - I am sticking to the reductions under 75 threshold for now, but will tweak if his numbers change.
His diet is still not what it should be, but at this point, I'm totally out of ideas. He seems pretty content with the nicer weather to eat 1/3 of a can of Friskies pate and 1/8 of a cup of his Elsey's/Ziwi Peak kibble mix for breakfast. Dinner is generally about 1/2 can of Friskies prime filets, but that's not always the case....sometimes he walks away and we play the buffet game. I always try to get him to eat pate first, but 99% of the time he refuses pate at dinner (don't ask me why he eats it in the morning but not at night)
Apologies for the long post, I just need a place to date-and-reason-check and myself on when I switched protocols and with the impending doom of another trip to the dentist nest week, my brain hurts already. Hope all of you have a good day and your kitties cooperate!!!

I swear I gave this cat 5 units of insulin this morning, and it was a good shot. WHAT is he doing??
