Good evening,

I am writing in a much more relaxed mood than yesterday. Seems like the sensor is working after that very erratic start yesterday. To my surprise, I managed testing on her ear three times today without a problem. That helps a lot, as I feel not that super dependent on the sensor any more. I would be still worried if it fails but I could get by somehow. I will try to train that with her much more often.

After the vet Binie was very high yesterday. Seems like it stresses her more than I can see. Tonight she already started to go down before her shot in yellow numbers and she is still going down. Seems an active cycle is ahead of us. We'll see, otherwise I wonder if it is time for an increase. Her overall bg became higher the last week. Maybe it was influenced by the antibiotics?

Binie is licking herself a lot less. Seems like the antibiotics are more and more out of her system. I started to search for new food today, which is suitable for diabetes but also good for her kidney. It is still a bit confusing for me and the labelling is not great. Thank god it seems not to be a contradiction any more to find a food which is good for CKD AND diabetes.

The next three days it will be not so warm and a little rainy in my area. I am super grateful for that because Binie is much better in cooler weather. She now has a cat bed outside under the roof, so she is sheltered from the rain. She loves to sit there, even - or especially - in thunderstorms and heavy rain. Seems to give her a special thrill. :cat:

Hope everyone has a good start in the weekend! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hello Heike, I am so happy to read your report today. it seems that Binie had a much better day today and it’s itching much less.

That must be such a relief for you.

I’m glad the sensor is working better and I’m glad you were able to do blood tests with less stress. That’s all great news.

Good luck with figuring out the food situation. It sounds like you’re on the right track.

Glad you’re getting a break from the heat and I think Binie will enjoy her new bed.

That’s funny that she really enjoys being outside.

Ivy is an indoors cat so she doesn’t really get to spend time outside and wouldn’t know what to do. We used to let her out on our patio to sit with us, and when the wind would blow or she would hear a noise, she would immediately go inside again.

She is really a nervous Nelly.
Wishing you a stable and calm night. Sleep well :bighug::cat::bighug:

Thank you so much Staci! :bighug::bighug::bighug: You can be glad, Ivy enjoys being inside so much. It is much safer. Binies adventures through the years really gave me more than one sleepless night. I think I mentioned that Binie spent the first thress years with my neigbors and they intended to keep her inside. But it was not possible. She was meowing the whole day to get out and finally they gave in. The only time I managed to keep Binie in was at new years eve because of the fireworks and the night before the vet when she needed anesthesia and had to fast. It was always a nightmare. In summer Binie spent almost all time outside. We had everything, wounds from cat-fights, bitten by a dog or fox, strange grass stuck in her throught which had to be taken out under anesthesia 3 times, trapped in some neighbors garage multiple times, an in involuntary car ride to a neighboring town and being lost for nine weeks. Last winter she manged to climb on the neighbors roof and was stuck there because it was frozen. When I found out it was 5 in the morning and my neighbors found me in my payamas under my winter jacket, standing on a ladder under their roof, trying to get her down. So knowing her safe on the fenced terrasse took so much stress out of my life and I am more than thrilled that she seems to be quite happy with it and doesn't miss her trips throught the neigborhood. You see, there is always action with Binie. :) Hope you have a happy and calm saturday! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

So glad to hear the good report on Binie today! So nice she is able to enjoy the storms and stay dry and comfy!
Sending you hugs and warm wishes.

Thank you so much Deb! :bighug::bighug::bighug: That's just what we want, keeping them safe and happy, right? I hope Tiger is well and your ankle also gets better. All the best! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh my God, Heike!! I had no idea of all of Binie’s adventures. She certainly lives up to the idea of a cat having nine lives. I should think she’s had 92 lives.

I can’t believe she had all those adventures outside. I don’t know how you’ve managed keeping it together. I would totally lose my mind if all that happened to Ivy. I get stressed if I can’t find her in the house for five minutes.

You really are a warrior with a strong composition. I admire your calm. While I’m sure you were quite worried during all of those episodes, I can’t believe you were still able to let her go outside.

I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night and I’d be a disaster. I’m so glad she’s doing as well as she is considering all she’s been through.

Sending you both lots of hugs. My admiration for your strength is even greater now that I know all these stories. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you Staci! Be sure I didn't choose that for her and I was a nervous wreck many times. All my neighbors now me walking through the neighborhood at night, rattling with a box of dreamies and calling her. I would never want an outdoor cat again because I simply can't stand it. But Binie is Binie. She has a very strong will. :cat: Hope you have a beautiful saturday! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh Heike I can understand how you felt with her outside. Tiger was outside the first 4 years of his life before I could catch him. He was born to a stray in our yard and I fed him. I would worry so when he wouldn’t show up and hope he was ok. When he showed up with an injured ear I finally was able to catch him and bring him in, for good. When I fed him outside I always sat with him while he ate and made him pay for food by being petted! I did that in rain, snow sleet, you name it but it paid off! He’s such a lover…

Oh Deb, such a sweet story, how you became friends! So you saved his life already many years ago, when you gave him a home. He was so lucky he met you! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I can only imagine the vision of you out looking for Binie in the night.
I understand that it’s Binie’s will to be outside.
I would be a wreck dealing with all of that!
