Re: 8/18 Jean Luc Amps 412 Gone Down Since

The lowest point in the cycle is somewhere near the mid-point, although this varies. The nadir can change; it's not a fixed point. There's an "ideal" cycle in the new to the group sticky which will help you to visualize how Lantus works.

Hi Shannan,
Jean Luc's cycle today looks very much like the "ideal curve" that Sienne linked you to. The hope is that he won't bounce back up from the blue today. Overall his numbers look better to me... no scary blacks, and only one that was barely red.

Well.......the scary black is back. How could that be? Thought this would be better.

Re: 8/18 Jean Luc pmps 566

This is just a bounce. Jean Luc isn't used to spending all that much time in lower numbers. As a result, when he drops into more normal BG ranges, his liver panics and releases a stored form of glucose along with counterregulatory hormones. This is what causes the numbers to shoot upward. It can take up to 72 hours for the bounce to clear. The more time Jean Luc spends in normal numbers, the more used to being in this range his body will become. The bouncing is all part of the process.

Shannan,
The insulin is working. Otherwise you wouldn't see that big of a drop by +2.5. He's just going to have to work through the bounces, as hard as they are for you to see happening. He's still adjusting to the change in insulin.

You'll get there,

Carl
