Thanks to those who gave advice/help to me yesterday about Gus' Dasuquin. In my heart, I had decided to continue with it unless there was a huge reason why it would be discouraged. Quality of life is what this whole dance is based upon, right? The big boy is happy today with a full tummy. I'm still praying that the AB is working. Gus has another week before a recheck on his urine. I suspect a case of kidney failure, which his vet says can be treated and is not an automatic death sentence. At any rate, mama bean's worrying quietly every day while himself lives the good life. I wouldn't have it any other way :-D

Re: 8/17 Gus AMPS 205

a while ago i saw someone say they'd given their acro cat some treat - after all the little guy had a brain tumor and if he wanted it they were going to give it to him. made a mental note of that good attitude - yes. it's about quality of life. it might not even be connected (the dausequin to the higher numbers) so what the hey, if he feels good, that's what it's about.

i tell myself that with every dr pepper, just in case all the crap in them is doing anything crazy to my body. been drinking that stuff every day since high school and it's no doubt preservatived me right up! i may be mummified inside, but it makes me pathetically happy. i'm a simple-to-please dork.

hope you get some good help with the kidney issue. we love our gus!

Re: 8/17 Gus AMPS 205

What fun is it without our special treats in life? QOL is the most important thing. If Gus is happy, then everything else is secondary. Thinking about you Bev and hope you have a great Wednesday!!

Re: 8/17 Gus AMPS 205

Lovely start for Gus today, especially with an infection! I think you have the right attitude. We do the best we can to give our furbabies the best possible life they can live. :-D

Check out Tanya's CRF forum (don't have the link handy... just check the googles). There is a TON of info there about CRF (chronic renal failure) and how to manage it. Marjorie is also an invaluable resource. We're looking at some wonky kidney numbers for Willie as well. I wouldn't get too discouraged... there are many options for preserving Gus' QOL.

Where else could you go where all your friends would be happy about Moonie's pee results ? Only in LL!! Great, great news. I'm praying for Gus to have a good pee report, but that won't be for another 10 days or so.

HA! another Irish!! :-D
and in honor of that...we'd like to see the "wearin' o the green", Gus.

sending healing vines your way, Guster-man....

I am praying for Gus's good pee pee results--and all LL kitties to have good results!
I truly thought Moonie had something wrong like a kidney issue...So I am PRAYING that Gus will get a Good Vetty Report too!!
Thing is with the QOL, our kitties dont know there's anything wrong with them--For them It's business as usual--So why not give them a treat now & then!
Sending Prayers & Healing white light to Gus!! That is a great PMPS with an infection!
Hugs from us!!

Hello Bev and of course Gus,
Seems i've kept missing you when I've popped in. I'm so sorry to hear about Gus' UTI and kidney issues. If I can help at all please let me know. One of my civies has CRF and we've learned a fair amount over the last couple years. Jennifer and Spunky - one of the "old" acro moms dealt with it alot with Spunky. She knows alot too. Her Spunky was a special guy and did great with it and the acro too. But I will hope that the ABX will be the answer. Sending you both the warmest of thoughts!!!
