I got another "low" (comparing with previous ps numbers) amps this morning.

It seems that for some reason, the night shot lasts more than the morning one

Could he be bouncing in the morning shot only?

I know I don't have much information on Owen yet, but any idea what this could be about?

I'm at work, so today I can only go home for testing at midday (+4) :(

Thanks!

It looks like Owen is getting in good numbers during the day and bouncing at night. Then by AMPS he is already clearing the bounce. I hope he surfs safely today.

Many kitties do go lower at night. Although Owen bounced last night it's possible he's clearing it already which would be great. The Lantus depot is still not completely full. If you able to get 1 more test before leaving for work that'll give a little idea of what he might have planned today. If not the +4 is fine and if needed leave some food out for him.

I didn't got a blue number at +4.5, but pink :(

Do you think he could have dropped from amps 238 and then raised again to 343 at +4.5? Or he never stopped bouncing?

It looks like he cleared the bounce last night but started a new bounce after dropping from 411 to the AMPS of 238. The depot is still not full yet. Frustrating but hang in there unfortunately progress doesn't happen over night with FD. A little more on bouncing from the The Basics New To the Group Sticky

Bouncing - Bouncing is simply a natural reaction to what the cat's system perceives as a BG value that is "too low". "Too low" is relative. If a cat is used to BGs in the 200's, 300's, or higher for a long time, then even a BG that drops to 150 can trigger a "bounce". Bouncing can also be triggered if the blood glucose drops too low and/or too fast. The pancreas, then the liver, release glucogon, glycogen and counter-regulatory hormones. The end result is a dumping of "sugar" into the bloodstream to save the cat from going hypoglycemic from a perceived low. The action is often referred to as "liver panic" or "panicky liver". *Usually*, a bounce will clear kitty's system within 3 days (6 cycles).

Thanks @Doodles & Karen , I guess I have to be more patient and accept that bouncing is going to happen. It's just 2nd day on Lantus...

About the dose, I'm afraid I made a mistake and I was giving him 2 units instead of 1.5 because of the syringes I was using. I couldn't find the 0,3mL ones on time. I've been very anxious last week, the pharmacy first told me they got the syringes, they ordered them from another city to arrive the following day, then they didn't arrive, and finally when they arrived and I went to pick them up, they were the wrong ones. They told me they will try to find the ones I requested, but they couldn't promise they will find them. So I decided to start with 1mL ones because I was desperate to get Owen numbers down :( I did wrong?

Anyway, and giving previous Caninsulin shots, the vet told me that 2 units of Lantus is ok, that I didn't have to worry that much about the mistake, given Owen's high numbers. What do you think? I'll update the spreadsheet.

Happily today the pharmacy called to tell me they finally got me the 0,3mL syringes, and they're in my hands right now. I will go to the vet clinic within a few minutes so that the vet teaches me how to load those. so I can start using them tonight. I'm afraid they don't have middle marks (0,5 or 0,25), but it's the only brand available in Argentina that have 0,3mL syringes, so I don't have any other choice :(

Oh dear, I'm not sure about the syringes as my math and familiarity of the .1ml vs .3ml. I think the .1ml are the U40 needles and do need conversion. None of our syringes come with .25 markings but do come with .50 markings. I think we have others in Argentina so maybe we can find them and see what syringes they use.

Can either of you help @Wendy&Neko or @tiffmaxee

Do the syringes have a red cap (U-40) or an orange cap (U-100)? Using U-40 syringes that are used for Caninsuiln means you are giving a Lantus dose that is 2.5 times what you would be giving in a U-100 syringe.

I believe @Silvina is also in Argentina and might know where to find syringes.

If you were giving 2 units of Caninsulin, then starting at 2 units of Lantus is a good starting dose.

@Wendy&Neko @Doodles & Karen I was using a regular U-100 syringe, not U-40 from Caninsulin.

It was @Silvina who told me to get the 30 units U-100, because it's easier to dose with those. I finally got them today, these are thinner and I can dose 1 unit with no error (which I couldn't do accurately with the regular U-100 where each line is 2 units). Also the needle is smaller :)
