I am pretty sure I got a fur shot last night. I get the hair all split and the spot ready with the skin visible and for some reason he jerks right before the shot goes in. I need to distract him with a new song while shooting. I don't think he likes ♫Who Let The Dogs Out♫ anymore.

Crap... and Lucian is looking so good this morning. Hanging heads low...

PS - Gonna start a new Lantus pen this weekend. Will get some mid-cycle tests in to see if there is any affect.

Re: 8/16 Snoball AMPS=361

I find it easier to shoot when Lucian is eating something, a treat or his breakfast, whatever. I'm done before he knows usually, more so with Lev because it doesn't sting like the Lantus. He would flinch fairly often with the Lantus. A couple times, I'd have the needle in and before I could press the plunger, he'd walk right out of it.

Don't worry yourself, it happens to all of us, he'll get back on track in a couple more cycles.

I was taught to give Sno his shot while he was eating but then he would be so skittish while he was eating thinking I might sneak up on him with a syringe. Because he was so emaciated then, I didn't want to do anything to discourage eating so we got in the routine of getting in the testing position. I guess he is like me - more freaked about the anticipation of the shot than the shot itself.

We are back in the blues!!!

Nice PMPS!! Way to go Snoball!! :thumbup

He will probably adjust to the shots eventually, most do. Just like testing.

You should have been around during Lucian's 1st 6 weeks. :o He had to be 'burrito'd' in a towel to keep from slicing me up! For 6 weeks, he was a kitty burrito! Talk about fighting tooth and nail?? Without a towel, I'd have been in the ER. Finally after 6 weeks, he seemed calm, so I tried it without the towel and he just sat there and been that way ever since. I never thought I would see the day that he didn't have to be restrained. So if he can change that much, I'm sure, in time, Sno will get better with his shots.

Of course, it's just getting used to it, it will always sting, which sux badly. If not for that, it probably wouldn't bother him at all. Have you ever stuck yourself with the needle that had Lantus on it, like after his shot or before? It stings like hell for about 5 mins, no wonder they don't like their shot. Lucian used to flinch most of the time, but never does on the Lev. Too bad all insulin isnt painless.
