8/16 S'mores OTJ Day 2... too blue... 104 to 132 today

Hey,

Day 2 is solid blue... I can't monitor during the day, so I'm going to be conservative about restarting Lantus during the week.

That said, what number should I be looking for to decide to start up again. Clearly 200 would earn a shot, but what if he says in the blue?

Hi, Sam and S'Mores...I'm too new to answer your question, but congrats on being OTJ for 2 days...here's hoping it lasts and he goes back down to green on his own! :mrgreen:

Let's hope for a greener day tomorrow. Sometimes kitties on trial wobble around a bit and then start to get better numbers.
Other kitties might need a few extra days to make sure the trial was a success.

If he stays in the higher blues then perhaps he needs to go back on one drop of insulin for a little while. We've seen that happen several times. With this tiny drop and a little extra time often the kitty will succeed on his/her next OTJ trial. It could be just a matter of a week delay.

Right now it is too soon to decide which way S'mores is going. Let's hope he goes for door number 1 and starts getting green numbers. :mrgreen:

Hi, you have been given great advice.. I will just say that what you are looking for is a trend of #s moving upward.
If you test & get a blue.. feed & then test 2-3 hours later.. if the # is lower.. you have a working pancreas.
Best of luck to you both.. even if back on insulin.. no biggie.. you just try again later ;-)

Numbers that are above 120 are outside of the "normal" range. However, it really depends on whether it's a blip or numbers are staying outside of the normal range on a consistent basis. Take a look at Barbara's Tuffy's spreadsheet. That will give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Tuffy is OTJ and will spike high numbers and then drop back to the 30s or 40s. (We think Tuffy gets stressed easily.)
