Thanks for the feedback about the insulin, Amanda! I appreciate it. Nice numbers for Kazi today! I hope she cooperates with bedtime...but good that you got a nice nap.
And I forgot to mention that you can relax a little! Kazi isn't in danger right now and you are in a good spot to steer her numbers with food. Try low carb first and let's see what that does. Do you have any higher carb wet food on hand in case she goes lower...or karo syrup or honey you can drizzle on food? Somebody more knowing than me should chime in soon.
Janice is doing just fine. The process is to test (lather), feed (rinse) and repeat. You want to use food to keep Kazi surfing in the above 50 range. If he drops below 50 (and I think there's a chance he may given the 51 at +2), you want to feed a small amount of HC (or put gravy or syrup on top of LC). And then repeat the process in 20 - 30 min.
Fed about 1.5tsp of low carb...we are at 60. I will test again in 30 minutes. She has been mauling her cat scratcher and flinging her toy all over the room so she is obviously feeling just fine!
ETA: Yes I have 2 cans of high carb, syrup and honey.
You need to see at least 2 tests with surfing or rising numbers and then test in an hour. Numbers can bobble around so you need to make sure that they don't start dropping again.
If her numbers are still rising an hour after the +77 at +3, you should be safe to head to bed. Leave out some food. Last night, she was at 83 at +4, so just about the same. It seems like she might be on her way to a decrease!
