Jack has been keeping me on my toes. Work is busy this time of year and Jack has been pulling his usual stunts... 50's or 300's it seems these days:mad:.

I can't complain too much since his dose has come down considerably lately, but the inconsistency is hard to keep up with sometimes. I thought the latest reduction from 12 to 11 was going to be a failed reduction... until he went from 309 at +5 last night to a 106 amps. With that drop he earned himself a few more days at the current dose.

This IAA makes for quite a guessing game at where the boy is headed. I would have guessed pink at +5 would be fine to get a good night's sleep in given the 2 previous days yellows and pinks. Glad he didn't go too much lower.

Otherwise he is doing good. He was begging for some salad last night so he got a sliver of olive :):):) Finally found something even the acro hunger couldn't get him to eat:D

My pet shop needs some IT work. Free food for tech support, that is win-win.:)

Hugs and scritches for all those who need it. And a stern warning to Bubba to get those numbers down.

Will the IAA break even with the Acro?
Yes they are 2 separate conditions so the IAA can break regardless of the Acro dx. Usually it starts to resolve itself around the 1 year mark. It has been about a year and 4 months so within the normalish window for resolving itself.

The SS really tells the story. We made it to 38u in January and since then it has been all downhill. We started August at 20u and currently sit at 11u. It really feels like I am giving him microdoses these days compared to having to use 2 syringes at the beginning of the year. It's nice to have a pen last more then 4 days too:D I have a feeling we won't go too much lower with the Acro in the picture, but he could easily end up in single digit doses. With Jack I just have to follow his lead, even if his dose wanders around like the little drunken sailor that he is.

Yeah , on finding a food that Jack puts his nose up too!

Thx for the good wishes for Bubba. Momma is holding her breath!

Jack, would you like to share your secret with Lily about how to get the dose lower? Wes, maybe Jack prefers his olives to be served up with a martini! :D

What causes IAA? Is it just a cat condition that some cats just have or is it something that is triggered (or is just a complete mystery)? Do all Acro's get IAA?

I'd love to know as well, I never thought we would be on this low of a dose. I'd say the IAA is breaking, but Jack isn't letting me in on the cat secret's.

Almost like he snuck up to NJ and doubled for Bronx on the SRT table
I'd say Bronx is doing pretty good, he is down quite a bit from the mid 30's, even if he is taking his time doing it. I'm sure it is nice to be using the small syringes again.... I've said it before but our cats are uncanny in how they seem to be following each others dose. Is there a cat texting app or something, lol.

What causes IAA?
It is a completely separate condition, no relation that I know of. Insulin Autoimmune Antibodies, basically the immune system sees the insulin as a foreign body and attacks it. This means until you overwhelm the antibodies, they capture the insulin before it can get into the cells. Sometimes they capture insulin then die off suddenly releasing the captured insulin... as evidenced by a recent amps of 35:nailbiting:. IAA typically just goes away after a year or so, I guess the antibodies finally admit defeat:D. Acro is a tumor on the pituitary gland that causes excess growth hormones to be released and as far as I know never resolves itself without surgery or SRT treatment.

Some cats are just IAA, Doodles(Karen) and Black kitty(Sandy) were ones that were IAA only. Some are Acro only, and some are special like Jack who has both. Neko was another that had both. Bronx is only Acro and not IAA.

Good job keeping on top of Jack's dose need changes Wes, things are definitely moving and shaking on the antibody front.

@LizzieInTexas IAA is either very rare or very common incats, depending on which research study you believe. There have been only a couple of studies of IAA in cats, both on too small a number of cats to be statistically significant. And MSU is the only place that tests for that condition, so the rest of the world is oblivious to it. And there is next to no research being done on it.

Hi Wes, I must of missed it last time I didn't realize that Jack went all the way up to 38 U. Down now to 11 U is pretty incredible.

Wow Capt. Jack, you sure have the best daddy bean around. Funny on the olive trick :p Hope you have treated yourself to something Wes even if just an ice cream cone not to be shared with Jack of course. ;) Always keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers. Be a good boy Jack and keep surfin buddy.
