Vet apt at 4pm to get tested for Acro and IAA.
Still in the mid to upper 300's with 9 units

good luck at the vet's! it'll be good to know what's up with mr tigger!

in the meantime, every 3 days you can increase a tad to try to keep him down off of the roof!

Thanks everyone!
Yes, it will be nice to rule some things out, or find out if there is something else going on.
If they come back normal, i'm curious what do I do? Just feed him alot of food and alot of Lantus?

That's ok I guess, just gets a bit spendier, and its pretty spendy already. Going through Lantus pens in 15 days will not be ideal on top of the $3/Day for FF.
But I'll do it if that's what it takes. I constantly get asked what it costs per month and just figured it out. Wow, wish I wouldn't have.

$260/month is what I spend on Tigger. Like i said, it that's what it takes. Just wish I could cut it back some! Food and Lantus are the two biggests costs.
That is not counting Vet bills. That is just Lantus, FF, Litter, Lancets, Needles, Test Strips

What does it cost others? Or don't we speak of the financials?

Hi Brent & Tigger,
Somehow I'm only now getting to your condo. Sorry!! Welcome!!! I hope that the tests will tell you what is going on with Tigger. Where do you buy your Lantus? If you don't already, I would suggest ordering it from a Canadian online pharmacy. It's much cheaper that way. I use CanadaDrugsOnline. Also, if you live close to the Canadian border you can drive up there, buy Lantus at a Cosco (good prices) and you don't need a prescription, either.
Good luck with the tests,

Ella & Rusty

I will have to look into that! I currently pay about $225 for 5 Lantus Pens.
It looks to be half price on that site! Nice.
Do I need a prescription for Lantus on that site? I am checking it out now but I see an Rx next to the Lantus so i'm guessing so.

I will get that prescription today from my Vet. Now, it needs to be refrigerated during shipping right?

Hi again, Brent,
Yes, you need a prescription for the online orders. The procedure is: 1) you register with Canada Drugs Online, 2) you place your order, 3) they then provide you with a form that you print out, attach your vet's original prescription (not a copy) and mail to them. You can also have your vet fax them the prescription, but this has to be done from the vet's office. You cannot fax the prescription yourself.

They ship the insulin wrapped in cold packs in a styrofoam shipping case. It takes about 10 days and arrives cool, but not cold. I have never had a problem with an order.

Hope this helps, Good luck!

Ella

Awesome, thanks Ella!
Just called them, set everything up. Got a number and will have the Vet fill it out and fax it today when i'm there.

I'm on my last pen so I hope I get it in time!
It doesn't take long to kill a pen at 9u per dose!

i hear ya on the cost! punkin's at 14u and we go through a vial in a month - that's $111. but i've been buying the syringes, lancets and test strips from American Diabetes Wholesale and it's not too bad. i'm testing 5-6 times per day - yikes that's $28 every 10 days for 50 strips, or 150 strips/month = $84 and the lancets would be $15 in that time. so just about $220 per month. the food - i'd be feeding him no matter whether or not he had diabetes, so i'm not going to depress myself figuring out the whole thing. yeah, it is expensive.

on the bright side, brent, i have 3 kids who cost approximately $1 million each to raise. just kidding, but only barely. tuition is due today for the youngest. punkin is the cheapest kid i have!!

Yeah Julie, those kids are spendy!

I think Tiggers diabetes is God making me pay for not having kids.

I only counted the food because its soooo much more than the average cat.

Got the Lantus ordered online today. Got the 10ml vial to see how that goes.
Also got the blood draw for Acro and IAA.
