Sorry that I have been MIA the last few days but work over the weekend consumed my every waking moment. Now it is back to tbp again! Meanwhile, Simon is doing pretty well. He has been staying mostly in the blues but dipping into the greens at night. I am trying an experiment over the next few days. I am changing his overnight feeding to 1 hour earlier and I'm going to only feed him Friskies turkey. For some reason, it seems like the FF causes his bg to go higher (I probably am imagining this but it is worth a try). I'm also not going to feed him anymore fish dinners for a week to see if his ear scratching gets a little better. I usually feed him fish every 3 days or so. Is there any other food that has lower carbs that LL kitties seem to like? He used to eat Wellness but hates it now and doesn't like blue buffalo.

Cleo is doing well on her fluids and is getting used to the routine. So is Simon. He knows he gets his food once she gets her fluids so he is very interested in the whole process.

Simon has also been so snuggly lately mainly because I haven't been home that much. He is such a sweetie. I'm going to have to post a few pictures soon. Happy Monday!!

Re: 8/15 Simon AMPS 106

I havent experimented with food. I'm curious what the answers to your questions will be.

I'm glad both kitties are feeling well :-D

Re: 8/15 Simon AMPS 106

There is a grain free cat food called NOW that I sometimes feed my cats, have you tried Merricks?
I was just given another brand by my pet store owner, Kiwi something or other, I'll have to check at home. The cats love it and Tray has maintained nice #s on it. But I think they might all contain fish. I will check and get back to you.

Hope you find something Simon loves.

Re: 8/15 Simon AMPS 106

Hi Georgia, very nice AMPS for Simon. You're not imagining that some of the FF cause high bg's! I find the same happens with Maggie, especially the FF Turkey & Giblets. A while ago Purina changed the formula for FF, and it just hasn't been the same before the change. A lot of kitties won't eat the Salmon Feast FF. There is one that Maggie really likes called Special Kitty Super Supper. It's a Walmart brand, but I don't know how good it is as not many here seem to use it. It is very low carb though, and Maggie did well with her bg on it. Merrick before grain that Iorwen mentioned is a good choice; I haven't experimented enough with Mag's taste buds on it. Maggie feels the same way about Wellness - what the hay are you feeding me! I'll be interested, too, in others' suggestions. Have a nice day.

Re: 8/15 Simon AMPS 106

Hi Georgia - Very nice amps for Simon! It is good to read that he is doing well.

Good luck with your food experiments. I feed mostly Wellness, but I also on occasion use Merrick. They have a BG line that is in the 1-2% carb range, with 6 basic flavors. They also have some LC fuds in the main line that are in the 3-5% range. Mannie likes them all, but then again - Mannie eats everything!

I am glad too that Cleo is doing well with the fluids. YAY!

Have a great day guys!

Re: 8/15 Simon AMPS 106

Good morning!! Nice AMPS for Simon today!

I am also interested in your food experiment. We only feed FF because that is all he will eat. I have quit all seafood though, because it seemed like he had more UTIs and liquipoos with it.

Funny how Simon has associated Cleo's fluids with fuds for him. That makes it nice once you have a routine down and everyone knows what to expect when.

Hope you have a great day!

Re: 8/15 Simon AMPS 106

HI Georgia good luck with the food experiment Do Lou does not like many of the FFflavors he eats mostly wellness and merricks and now recently a FF flavor with cheese on occasion happy to hear the fluid routine is going well with Cleo

So far, so good on the food experiment. Simon has a nice green number at +6.

Natalia and Melissa, thanks for the words of encouragement!

Iorwen, I haven't tried Merrick but I think it is as Petsmart, right? I never heard of Kiwi -- let me know where you buy it and if it works. I do want to stay away from the fish meals, though.

Ann, I agree with you on the FF turkey. I think it seems to make Simon's numbers go even higher than the chicken. So strange! I haven't tried the Special kitty brand. I try to avoid going to Walmart but I'll go this weekend and buy some cans. Definitely worth the agony of the Walmart parking lot if I find something Simon likes and keeps his bg down.

Michelle - Can I get the lower car 1-2% Merrick at Petsmart or do I have to get it at a special place?

Lisa, is the FF with cheese on it low carb?
