Yesterday was a technology fiasco- ants somehow got inside Ember's emergency feeder so I had to clean it all out and buy another one of @Mary & Jude's bug trays so I can keep all Ember's feeders safe from the never-ending ants. So after I got her feeders all up on ant-proof trays, I started a new Libre. I was rushing since I was meeting my parents for Shakespeare in the Park about an hour away near their house. The new sensor was working fine with Ember's phone but it wasn't sending the info to my phone and I didn't realize it until I got to the park. So I spent the whole play worrying (for absolutely no reason since she was really high). At least I could see her on the camera and I could see she was up and moving around. I just upgraded my phone plan to unlimited data since I kept going over my limit checking Ember's glucose and my CatCam all the time. 😜
Safe surfing everyone. I'm sending love and vines 🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃🍃💚 to everyone out there dealing with scary health issues. I know how overwhelming it is.

Ants are 👿! I'm sorry you're dealing with this!!
I'm so thankful for those trays. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I literally can not leave food out for more than a few minutes before it gets swarmed, so there would be no way to feed her while I'm gone without them. My mom sent me this article that said globally there are 20 quadrillion ants alive at any given time, or 2.5 million per person. Since there is only one person at my house, I have way more than my fair share! Maybe they're counting all the cats as people. 😹😹😹😹😹

Are your ants black ants? Argentinian? That's what I think mine are. I notice a lot of little brown piles around the yard, which the pest control service tells me that's the culprit. I've read that Argentinian ants have these MASSIVE underground nests. They've been so bad in the past that I've wondered if we might have a sink hole because of the nests :D We also have stinging red ants here, so I'm really glad they aren't the interlopers. This year, ANTI-JINX, the invasions haven't been as bad. I've been wondering why and have anecdotally concluded that the reasons are 1) we've had a lot of rain, and 2) I started a termite control plan thingy this past year. I wonder if either of those could have helped??? IDK. Anyhoo. I'm glad the trays help--they are a godsend for us.

Oh no on those nasty ants 😥
Be gone and leave Ember alone!

I’m sorry for the technology issues with Libre too. I’m glad you could watch her and know she was fine!!

Several years ago, we went to a concert about an hour from home and it sit in a wooded park. It’s a beautiful venue that we had been too many times before but this time I had a Libre on Ivy and wanted to check on her glucose.
Well, I couldn’t get any cell service for the life of me. And my son was at home with Ivy and I couldn’t even get my texts to go through to him to check what was going on at home.

That was the last time and the last concert we went to. I said to my husband, that’s it, we’re done. I can’t deal with the stress of having no cell service and not being able to know what’s going on with her.
Many of the venues near us are like concrete bunkers if they’re indoors and I can never get any cell service there either.
One is in a casino and it’s like a black hole. I swore that one off too.
Needless to say, we haven’t been to concert in about 3 to 4 years since I’ve been dealing with Ivy‘s diabetes and Libre and all that stuff, I just can’t handle it. And what’s the point if you can’t enjoy the concert or the show you’re trying to watch live, it’s not worth being there and all that goes with it at least for me it wasn’t. It was just easier to reduce my stress level by not going.

So, I’m glad to hear that you were able to go, but I understand your stress in the whole thing and can totally relate! 🫂💖

Mine are black ants, but I'm not sure what kind. I didn't even think about the possibility of stinging ants! That would be so much worse! We had those in my parents' yard growing up. Thank goodness these ones are just annoying and not trying to kill us. 😜

Exactly! Why spend money to go be a stressed-out mess the entire time and not enjoy yourself? I never thought about how lucky we are that we can get decent cell service at most performing arts venues around here. Must be a CA thing.
