Last night was a lovely cycle on her first day of the new dose. A little bit higher start today, but not as much of a bounce as I thought might happen after the first string of greens in awhile. So I'm back to cautiously optimistic (I think I need a layer right before cautious, but I'm not sure what that is yet).

Today is a home vet visit day - she needs her Solensia shot and her claws trimmed. Because of the claws, I attempted to dose her with gaba. She of course did not approve and spit at least half of it out. I get it, she knows it doesn't make her feel good. So she'll likely be a bit feistier during the visit. But I don't want to give her more because I know she doesn't react well to it.

Last day before I'm back on contract. I'll spend the next week-ish easing back into being on campus more full time, and then classes start the 26th.

Hope folks are having a good Wednesday.

Sending you good and easy vet visit vibes! Kit is so smart. She knows that nasty medicine makes her feel yucky.

I hope it goes well and she behaves and it’s over quickly so she can get back to being her sweet, sassy self quickly.
Enjoy the rest of your day, your last full day of freedom, Alicia:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Very lovely cycle last night. And she's on the move this morning. Yay.
Good luck with the vet. Will the vet be able to check for a potential UTI, or has that been resolved?
Enjoy the last day of your freedom! Hope you are doing something fun (other than the vet visit!) ;)
We're pretty sure it wasn't a UTI at this point. We think last week was way more traumatic than usual, and because of all of the things, she just doesn't have the resiliency to bounce back as quickly. Which makes sense.

Hi Alicia, very nice cycle night, Nice to see she's blue already, I hope she surfs safely today :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:
Good luck with the claw trim and solensia today ,I hope she stays pretty calm
She had enough drug to let us do the claw trim with minimal physical fuss, but not enough so she let us know how very big mad she was that we dared to do so. So, growly but cooperative?:joyful:

Her part was over pretty quick, and she physically behaved. She definitely growled and hissed displeasure, but we're okay with that.

The vet visit went well. I just have to say that I absolutely am so effin' thankful that we found the vet we use for Kit. Home visits, doesn't give me a lot of guff about wanting to home test and adjust levels based on those without having to go through her, and just generally being there when I have questions.

Kit was definitely less dosed - enough that she stayed mostly still, but was still able to growl and hiss like the ferocious beast she believes she is. We were a month behind on claw trims because we'd adjusted the timing of blood draws, so her claws were thicker than usual (and they already get pretty dang thick). She got her Solensia shot and Dr. Kelly even gave her a little sanitary shave to help out since she doesn't really clean her butt as well as she used to. And just in case the gaba causes her to have any poopaggeden today.

The latter half of the appointment was working out how to manage her from here on out. We're not going to do the dental, because we also aren't going to do a respiratory panel. Traveling is much too hard on her, and at this point it doesn't seem like that trauma it causes her (and me, to be honest) is worth it. Her teeth are looking okay - they have some tartar, but overall seem okay. And she definitely chews her freeze dried treats (I know because I can hear it and see it). She has a lot of things working against her, but right now her quality of life is still pretty good. She's definitely not in as good of shape as she was 8 months ago, but overall, we're still happy with her quality of life. She eats well, she's pooping and peeing in the litter box (when she's not drugged and reacting to the drugs upsetting her stomach), her weight and coat are still good, she's not hiding. She doesn't play or jump, but she hasn't ever been a big player of a cat, and her arthritis and neuropathy make it impossible for her to jump. The way we're looking at it right now is sort of like hospice care. Dr. Kelly is going to send me information on things to watch for, and will also be keeping an eye out for those things on Kit's monthly visits. She also said to let her know if she needs to stop by between visits to check on anything. So we have a plan.

I am vacillating between being okay and utter despair, but that seems like a pretty normal thing in this instance. So we're just gonna be here, trying to make sure that we give her the best life we can while we can. Anywho, I'm gonna go lavish Kit with affection that she'll likely be annoyed by, and take some pictures while she still looks pretty healthy (well, until you see her walk).

And by tonight she's back to herself. She sassed me until I gave her some treats this afternoon, her fur went back to being the softest (it was a little less soft while the vet was here), and she's back to yelling at me when she feels she isn't properly being paid attention to. So today's vet day was basically the antithesis of last week, and for that I am grateful.

WCR took me way longer to suss out than it should have. Don't worry, I got there.

Yeah, that sass is definitely missed when she's not feeling well. And at the end of her appointment, Dr. Kelly gave her some pets to get a feel for her coat, and Kit hissed her displeasure. Dr. Kelly was like, now there's the kitty I know and love! The sass also made her feel better about where Kit currently is.

When I get my next cats (because there will be a pair so they can amuse each other), at least one is gonna have to be a tricolor of some sort. I just love them so much. Does that make me a glutton for punishment? :joyful::joyful:

Sending you all the love for you and smoke Kit cat. You’re doing such wonderful things for her. And it sounds like a very good report overall. I’m glad her teeth aren’t awful. That’s good news.
It’s great she was not too out of it and was able to show her beautiful colors to your vet.
Feel good pretty girl. And great job, Mom :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
