8/14 Gilbert *broth carb question*

I have been feeding Gilbert venison broth the last few days over his low carb wet food & he is eating it so much better...he loves broth! Is this high carb or too much for a cat...I really don't think so, but am unsure & what about ckn or beef broth. The venison broth is homemade w/ a little salt.

Are you just cooking venison in water? I don't think you want to add the salt. My kitties are on a raw diet and venison is one of their favorites. I add water and it looks like venison soup. Sometimes kitties need a bit of variety go he may be enjoying the novel protein.

I agree...... If its homemade and there is nothing but venison in water, I'd just cut out the salt.

I agree on no salt and venison is 0 carbs on it's own.

I put venison steak in crockpot for us...so added salt. I had so much broth when done I thought I would try it on Gilbert because he sometimes doesn't eat well. I guess I could just add our salt to the meat when done instead of while cooking. Thanks guys!

Oh...and what about ckn & beef broth purchased low sodium or no salt?

The chicken and beef broth, not slat versions should be fine for Gilbert.
