Morning LL,

Leo seems to be doing alright antijinx Tho i'm still so worried about him and constantly watch him like a hawk, which i'm sure he's pretty sick of already

We had a good test, shoot and a nibble kind of feed, it took him 3 sittings at his food to finally finish it.

Today our regular vet is finally back from what seems like a million years on holidays, i plan on calling her and talking her into putting Leo on some supplements that help ward off pancreatitis. I was hoping to get him on the denmarin (sp?) and some weekly B12 shots. If she's not cool with it, i hear i can buy B12 at the local drug store and give to him. Anything to help him get over for this darn pancreatitis once and for all!

At the moment Leo is all comfy cozy in his kitty bed purring away. Have a great day all.

Re: 8/13 Leo AMPS 227

Hi Tracy, nice report on Leo this morning, and I can understand the worry, as Leo has been thru a lot lately. Hope he continues feeling good and great idea with the Vet and getting some supplements. It's great you're staying ahead of things. Have a nice day. Are you back at work. I've lost track.

Re: 8/13 Leo AMPS 227

Morning Tracy - a nice start for Leo today, and I am glad he is feeling better today. I can so understand the worry, he has been through alot lately. I know what I went through with Mannie's issues last month. One just never stops hoping all is well with them.

I so applaud so for being on top of his care. I hope the vet will be on board with whatever you guys feel he needs. Good luck!

Leo - nice on that comfy bed - sounds like a good idea to me. :-D

Enjoy your day today Tracy!

Re: 8/13 Leo AMPS 227

Hi guys .. glad to hear leo is feeling better! He's been through so much lately .. poor lil man .. hoping your vet agrees with the new meds you want so you can get leo on a regimen and keeping him feeling good! Have a great day guys!

Re: 8/13 Leo AMPS 227

Aw he doesn't mind, especially if you join him in that nap! B12 isn't stored in the body and it certainly can't hurt. This is a great article that I read recently.

Re: 8/13 Leo AMPS 227, +4.5 270

Sounds like Leo is feeling much better already! Here's wishing his numbers continue to improve and he continues to feel more and more like his old self!

Re: 8/13 Leo AMPS 227, +4.5 270

We understand completely about the appy issues. Paws crossed the mighty hunter is feeling fit as a fiddle soon. He knows you love him and are taking great care of him, so I don't think he minds you watching him closely. cat_pet_icon

I'm glad Leo is starting to feel better. I can so relate to watching Leo like a hawk. After SRT you just never know when changes might start to happen. I'd be interested in hearing what your vet says about denmarin. After doing some googling, it looks like it is easily available in the US, but available at the vet or only a few other places on line in Canada, for a significantly higher price. Neko gets milk thistle and I've been thinking about Sam-E so the combo in denmarin would be good if I could find it without having to resort to a US post box.

Nice +8 by the way!

Sorry I should have updated Leo's condo. I did talk to our vet, she's agreed to shots of B12, which I will pick up tomorrow. She doesn't agree with anything Dr Timian suggested, saying that adding anything else to the mix will stress him out thus aggravating his pancreatitis, so no denamarin, milk thistle or vitamin E. She wants me to give a full 5 days of cerenia to give Leo's little body a break (from nausea and pain). So we will continue on with the cerenia.

Hey Tracy & Leo,
Good luck with the B-12. Linda (Bear Man) did some research on it when Rusty was diagnosed with pancreatitis and sent me the following:

"Pancreatitis is one of the growing number of conditions which respond to sub q supplementation with cyanocobalamin. There appears to be no downside to giving it and it is reasonably inexpensive. This will be fairly non invasive for Rusty, and has potential to help. You may have read about it in the pancreatitis links. There is also a suggestion that it helps appetite. I think you should ask your vet about it. Some vets want to test serum B12 and folate first, but you should talk them into just letting you try it and seeing if it helps."

Rusty's flare was short-lived, so I didn't follow up on Linda's advice last spring, but if he should have another bout of pancreatitis, I will definitely get my vet to try this.

Hope you are having a good evening. Leo has good numbers.

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

It sounds like you are getting the cyanocobalamin from your vet, which I think is the one generally indicated for GI issues. That sounds like a good plan. The one you get at the drugstore may be methylcobalamin, which seems to be more indicated for neuropathy. Bear Man and his brother Teddy both used sub Q injections of cyanocobalamin for IBD/CP issues.

Glad to hear Leo is feeling better. Very interesting stuff about the B12 and p-titus in Leo's condo today!

Very nice PMPS, Leo...surf safely!!
