Good morning all!

Shasta's appy is ok. Not great, but not refusing to eat. She was very cute this morning, laying on her back, twisting and turning, and giving me the "I'm adorable" face! Love this silly kitty!

Besides being paranoid about the affects of insulin on empty tummy, I think I'm becoming paranoid about everything regarding Shasta. I hear her make noises I've never heard before and I start worrying. I keep seeing her do something strange with her mouth and then she swallows and I just don't know... getting older sucks. I feel like I'm doing things wrong with her. For one day, I just wish I could understand her thoughts. :YMSIGH:

She's pooping and peeing just fine, she's preening, she's playful (when she's not napping or being grumpy), and well, she's not much of a purrer...but she means well.

Sorry to be Deborah Downer...this just all seems so new and so out of my control. Just so everyone knows, she's giving me the evil eye from her bed. Pretty sure she's saying that if I come poke her ear again, she's going to destroy me!

Ok, time to do something productive...maybe!

What a pretty green there, Shasta - well done!
I so hear you about the paranoia, Deborah! Hope you get to relax a bit soon - it all does get easier!

Happy Sunday

Yep, that all sounds very familiar. We worry too. When I took Zener to get his anal glands expressed, the vet said to keep an eye on him. She has no idea how closely we watch him.  And Shasta IS adorable! And green.

Big, fast drop this morning. Despite the evil eye, I think you'll want to get another test at +4.5 or +5.

Thanks Liz & Jane! I know everyone else on this board has felt the same way at some point. Otherwise, we probably wouldn't be on this site, caring so much.

Sienne, I had a freak out moment when I saw that drop!!! Felt a little better when things slowed down between +2, +3, +4. I did get a +5=84. She ate a little snack of 2% Mixed Grill (mixed in with her leftover 3% & 4%), along with some Turkey Pure Bite treats. Thanks for checking in on us...always appreciated!

Off to run a few errands (returning food she does not like!) and do a little work in my classroom.

I have tried explaining to Shasta that her yellow numbers do NOT equal gold medals! ugh! Come down from the ceiling, little girl!

This could be a bounce from that crazy drop from 310 to 110 in 2 hours. crazy cat.

I think I may be giving SUPER skinny shots because I'm really, really not used to these syringes. The plunger depth pre-insulin confuses me. My old syringes, the tip of the plunger hit the 0.0u line before pulling in insulin; the Relions that I have now, have the plunger tip hit -0.0u so that really the top of the plunger is on the 0.0u line.

I know there's a discussion somewhere on this site about it, but I can't remember where I read it. I'll feel stupid when I find it...or someone points it out to me...like if it were a snake, it'd bite me!

p.s. Shasta has chosen midnight on a Sunday/school night to be playful! Go figure! That sassy mouse sure was taunting her!!!

Good night! ~Deborah & sassy mouse killer Shasta!
