Good Sunday Morning, Everyone,

We went back to the Monoject syringes this morning. It was just too nerve wracking trying to use the Terumos. My "perfect" MJ (one of the few I have left) presented me with a large bubble, but I was able to deal with it (I think!). In any event, there was no drop left in the syringe and I could hold the syringe normally, without having to worry about dispensing the insulin prematurely. Then Rusty and I watched the men's Olympic Marathon. Wow, what a finish!

It's a beautiful day here today (at last) and Edward and I are about to go for a long walk. bbl,

Wishing you all a fine day, continuing to send healing vines to Punkin, Leo, all kitties in need, and to Barbara, who is doing valiantly,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 8/12 Rusty AMPS 127

Morning Ella!

A very nice start to Rusty, the mighty hunter. How is that hunting coming Rusty? Still on the prowl for chip chip?

Good luck with the monojets. I can understand how nerve wracking the terumos must have been. I read the other day that Ann of Ann and Tess has gone back to the monojets too. I know there are a few problems with them, but even with that I've decided to stick with them. I can adjust with them if need be. Hope the move back will benefit Rusty.

Enjoy the walk! a long one too - YAY!! It is a great day here too, and I hope to get out on a walk shortly - off to the shore! :-D

Re: 8/12 Rusty AMPS 127, +5.5 143

I hope you had a good day out and that now Rusty will head back to the Lagoon, I think Tess may be headed there looking for him.

Yes. i gave up on the Terumos too. Not so much the hair trigger problem as I always hold the syringe by the barrel until the needle is in, but I just couldn't get my drop sizes even,

I think you said you were getting a rowing machine? What type? We have a Concept 2, it's a great workout.

Re: 8/12 Rusty AMPS 127, +5.5 143

Ok, Rusty, remember that lagoon? You need to go find it. What are we going to do with the Tour and the Olympics over? Oh right, I have to go back to school. :-x You don't. :-D

Re: 8/12 Rusty AMPS 127, +5.5 143, +9.5 157

Hi Again,
I think that the skinny 1.5 unit dose as estimated/measured on the Terumos was too small and that Rusty wasn't getting enough insulin. I'm going to take the skinny off his 1.5 unit dose and give him a straight 1.5 units this evening. I want to get him back on track, and now that I'm using the familiar Monojects, it will be easier (I hope!). The Terumos were too tricky to work with.
I'm still trying to puzzle out his recent cycles, which are wonky.

bbl,

Ella

p.s. to Ann: yes, we got a Concept2, Model D. Love it!

Re: 8/12 Rusty AMPS 127, +5.5 143, +9.5 157

Ella, I bet you get Rusty back on track easily, once you go back to the MJ's, which are less "hair-triggered'.
Dr Dave thought that was very funny, that you said the Terumos had a hair-trigger.
They've used them at Check's clinic, and the vet tech thought they had some to give me to try, but didn't; so she gave me several bags of Relion. I'll take free anytime.

Re: 8/12 Rusty PMPS 170. dosecrease.

Hi again, everyone,

I took Rusty back up from a skinny to a straight 1.5 units tonight (on the Monojects; with the calipers this measures 1.70mm). I hope it will begin to get him back on track. I know that I might have problems measuring when my "good" MJs are gone (I have about 20 left), but I hope I can compensate by using the calipers.
Despite his rising numbers Rusty had a good day. He had good appetite, good outdoor time, good litterbox contributions, good naps in both of his baskets.
Interesting story about the deer today: We were sitting on the front porch having lunch when a spotted fawn went hopping and skipping down the driveway, crossed the street, crossed the larger street, and was gone up the hill, quite far from our house. About 2 minutes later his/her mama walked down the driveway, looking for him/her. She stood at the street looking about in all directions and saw me watching her. She looked at me straight in the eyes and I pointed the direction the fawn had gone. She then trotted off in that direction, being very careful to stop at the streets before crossing. These animals are very intelligent, that's for sure.

Wishing you all a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 8/12 Rusty PMPS 170. dosecrease.

Well what a conundrum on the syringes, those terumos don't sound like they work so great, best to go back to what you know and are comfortable with.

Amazing on the deer and fawn! Animals sure are intelligent, i watched a documentary on raccoons who live in cities yesterday, they go out of their way to avoid crossing busy streets....unbelievable.

Good luck with the dosecrease Rusty, work that juice buddy.

Re: 8/12 Rusty PMPS 170. dosecrease.

I'm so sorry the syringes didn't work out, Ella. I'm hoping you can get him back on track with the MJs.

Do you want to trade syringes? I have several boxes of MJs I'd be glad to trade you for the Terumos. Most are 31g with one box of 30g. But they all have the needle/hub issue.......even the 30g.

The food lots I buy locally are from the UT plant so are coded MW. NOrmally they are just fine but a few lots were a different consistency that they wouldn't eat. So we went around to all the stores in town and got
different lot numbers...so far, so good.

Re: 8/12 Rusty PMPS 170. dosecrease.

Good luck with the MJ syringes, and the calipers. Paws crossed it gets Rusty back in the green in no time!

Re: 8/12 Rusty PMPS 170. dosecrease.

Those syringes are really terrible. I hope you can use the one you are more familiar with.
Ive been using BD since day one, the only brand we have here (no half marking). This morning, one of the first few times DH try to help with taking the measurement, complained how off those syringes are!
Our kitties are innocent, it's the syringes problem!

Hi again,
Flat tonight. Maybe better numbers tomorrow (although we will be out for much of the day, so we won't know!). Thanks, Marje, for the offer, but I already have 600 MJs! I think I'll hang on to the box of Terumos, too, since I might have to start the experiment again if the MJs prove to be impossible. I'm becoming a professional hoarder.

Wishing everyone a good night,

Ella & Rusty
