Good Morning LL. Just a quick update. Tuffy is still struggling with all that has happened. She is so sensitive. I finally slept, or tried to, in my bed last night. I got kisses, nips, purrs and so on for over 2 hours. Then, she finally decided to jump up on the top of the bookshelves. Luckily, she did not use me as a trampoline. We have had some good play sessions and she seems more settled this morning. Nancy was so worried about her while I was in the hospital. She did not want to eat and all she did was talk, talk, talk. Finally Nancy if she sat with her and petted her she would eat.
I am progressing well. I was very fortunate in that my orthopedic physician has credentials that don’t stop and his specialty is hip/knee/leg traumatic injuries. I have a follow-up visit on Thursday to have the staples removed and an assessment of my progress. I’m told recover for this type of injury is approximately 6 months. I hope it is not that long. I am the world’s worst patient. I have been so blessed by good health and independence this is difficult emotionally for me. Thankfully the kitties are helping keep my spirits up. They no longer fear the walker and frequently walk with me. If I stop, they look at me as if to say aren’t you coming? I am not afraid they will trip me; they are very cognizant of where I am. I am able to do a few chores around the house now, including feeding the kitties, brushing them, LB and keeping the floor clean and preparing my meals. That coupled with therapy 3x a day and company my days are very full.
The swelling and bruising have migrated to my foot and ankle hopefully they will be gone soon. Tuesday, my whole leg was black, blue, purple and very swollen. It was ugly. I am taking my pain meds, Oxycontin, because I was told they will help facilitate healing. I really don’t like taking those strong drugs. I tried to adjust the dose to every 6 hours instead of 4 and got hollered at. They don’t seem to make me drowsy so I guess I’m not taking too much. I still have to inject the Lovenox, anti-coagulant, sub q in my abdomen every 24 hours. This is to prevent thrombosis. It stings.
Today I am hoping to go for a short ride and see Khoko. I’m sure he does not know what has happened and wonders where I am. Kathy said he was depressed the 3rd day I was missing so she has started grooming him daily and giving him some extra attention. He is such a people horse.
My son’s swimming season will finish shortly and he and my DIL are coming down to see me.
Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and healing vines. I check the board and read condos as I can but sitting with my leg up at the computer is difficult. I’m still in the phase where the ankle needs to be above the hip, not a sitting friendly position.
Happy Sunday to all and healing vines to all that need them.
